I am also interested in seeing Moore play since he is a dark horse. I hope Marner dominates but I don't expect he has gained a lot of weight. I am also curious about the goaltenders. Wonder which one is off to Orlando?

I don't expect the Goat to be in the Leafs system much longer. A casualty of numbers.

Happy Birthday Lucas! You are on the slippery slope to 40.

451 brother, should have no issues hitting 500, if the perch come in like I hope they do, 600+ could be had.

was a slower year fishing at work - just seemed like it was so hot they moved out to the lake.

Yeah I was going to say...weren't you reaching 700 last year!?

Anyhow...was chatting about the world hockey champ with a few buddies this morning and we were all on the same page - this is going to take a toll on these guys who (for some) barely had a month off after playoffs and will need to go right in to the regular season grind soon. Not sure how it'll play out

Marners never going to gain alot of weight. He's either going to make it at the size he is or not make it at that size.. might add a few pounds but he's never going to be 190 or even 185 is stretching it..

I think it's good for them. They can rest a bit more during pre-season since they already have some quality hockey in the system (recently).

I think you see some of the world cup players play a bit less pre season than normal.

plus, these guys are animals these days, living, breathing, thinking, watching hockey.

no sir, a few pounds extra, hopefully mostly muscle (core strength).

he will never be big, all you can do is ask/hope that he strengthens up and continues to be his agile self (and hard to hit) like Datsyuk is/was.

Iiiiiiii dont know man, I just see more injuries in the opening months of hockey and guys wearing down faster than usual. Keep in mind guys like Matthews will have a hard enough time playing 82 games....add a flippin tournament to that....eek.

Probably add a few pounds but people expecting the kid to completely bulk up would be kidding themselves. He himself said he doesn't want to put on alot of weight and so did Babcock pretty sure..

unless they get hurt, I really don't see it being too big of a deal.

most of these guys are playing hockey in some way or another just about every day, whether it be training on the ice, scrimmages or mens league.

just my 2 cents, but I do see your point, it could catch up to them if they are not fully prepared for the grueling season.

Actually his older brother had a growth spurt in his early 20's. So marner could as well.

Or so I read.

it wouldn't bode well with his style of play.

hes fast, quick hands and not easy to plaster with a hit.

adding fat (weight) does nothing but slow you down - they made kadri do that one season and it didn't help him at all.

It works for P. Kane and T. Johnson. I am looking forward to seeing him play with NHL players to figure out just how fast and crafty he really is.

Yeah, I don't necessarily mean for the experienced guys who have put their bodies through the grind, but there's so many under 25 year olds playing in the tourney who will be expected to make the next jump in their careers who I can see suffer a bit.

I'll go on record saying Matthews starts the reg season flying and finding the back of the net, but come 40 games he starts to slow right down.
