I'm just saying, if you followed him, he didn't pan out in Florida. I think many thought he was done already after not establishing himself with the Panthers.
He came to Vancouver, still needed more time and development to turn it around and he passed through waivers to get to Utica- nobody wanted him... since then, he has shown he can at least be a backup in the NHL and is heading towards the starter job.
It is like people look at the Canucks from 5000 km away and repeat much of the same talking points we have heard for the last few seasons. And in the case of Markstrom, he was called a bust some time ago, it is still being repeated as if he hasn't improved.
I know he was was the top goalie prospect for awhile, but he had been written off.
It would be nice to think for the article, the news isn't he hasn't panned out, it is he was counted out and has since turned his career around.
Some of this is tone to me and some of it is just lazy writing. - hillbillydeluxe
The biggest prob with Marky in Fla was a lack of a goalie coach in the AHL |

I would be surprised . They got rid of their 30 goal guy for a twenty goal guy . - VANTEL
I think they figure Pulj will make up the other 10 |

The GM of Pulju's native country passed on him . He has been silent for half a year.
Pulj will replace a second top 6 position and probably not score this year as much as the person he is replacing.
I need to see him produce first. |

Can see CAL/VAN competing for the WC spot if healthy. Gotta hunch both teams will miss though. Don't be shocked if EDM finishes ahead of both CAL/VAN. - LordHumungous
I will be, that defense and goaltending is still really questionable IMO.

Whatever the explanation, when he arrived in Vancouver, he wasn't looked upon as being a sure thing or can't miss goalie. It was more of a reclaim project, hoping he could get back on track.
like I said previously, it is like the reporter is talking up old material and using it to prove his present point. I don't see it as being relevant to the present. |

Agreed. They are going to be scary when they have the puck in your end but I don't know what they are going to do when it's in their zone. |

Except for Vancouver right
I think Calgary and Vancouver improve out of the basement. Calgary makes the playoffs and Van is middle of the pack.
Edmonton should move up a bit too.
I have Arizona, Colorado and New Jersey dropping into the bottom 5 with Toronto and Columbus.
P.S. I'll try to be more positive but I can't make any guarantees. - belcherbd
I think Arizona will surprise next year. Added some defense and have some talent up front who will crack the line up. I dont expect columbus to be a bottom 5 team again, I think they will challenge for a playoff spot.
I too think Avs and Devils will drop. Toronto will be toronto. I kind of think the red wings will drop big time next season.

Im super high on him. I think he will be a top 5 rookie next season. He can play and produce at high speed, him and McDavid might look really good together. |

Fair enough, I like Detroit's chances of making the playoffs again.... I know I'm in the few but they were crushed by injuries again last year and like the addition of Greeen and Nielsen as well as their young players.
I expect Torts to be fired midseason, they should be improving but that hiring will of set them back again IMO. |

I don't think he is starting one anymore than your initial comment. Its unfortunate but with all the "trolling" as of late, its no surprise many are on guard when a fan of another team has anything to say about ours. Dont forget people get banned just for being in the Leafs forum even commenting genuine comments. |

Very lazy writing. The author just googled Canucks and wrote the usual stuff. Sedins are getting older; management trying to compete, but don't have the talent; bunch of third and fourth liners. Maybe author just read comments on this site for past year.

How many games did you watch Markstrom play last year. He has been fine. Like Hillybilly said anyone who makes comments about Markstrom struggling is is probably someone from the East that are looking up old clippings . Do your homework before coming in here complaining about Canucks goaltending. It was the strongest part of their game last year.
You felt the need to come in here and complain about Canuck goaltending for some unknown reason ? I was just reminding you about how sparkling your team goaltending is. |

He is still only 26 too. If he comes out and has a solid year, most will be eating their words. He could still be a half decent #1 goalie. He had some amazing performances last year. Consistency was an issue but with our dumpster fire team last year I will withhold judgement. |

Out of EDM, CAL, and VAN, I think CAL has the best chance to finish the highest but it will be vastly dependant on Elliott and how they balance the starts between him and Johnson. |

I think they can also. Their defence has to step up and be the core that I expected last year though. Very sub par considering the guys they had. |

Provided they get Gaudreau signed. Calgary is way off, anything less than 7.5mil for the kid is a steal. |

every year teams look better on paper than they did the year before and every year the game is decided on the ice with surprises and disappointments.
I think we should be better but can't wait to see how it plays out.
I'm not sure how often, over the last handful of seasons, the Oilers were picked to make the playoffs, but sooner or later it is going to happen. McDavid is a big game changer and their D should be better. Still I'd like to see them miss as much as any other division rival. |
