Russia/Canada game doesn't seem to be on NHL TV, is that true? Or is it blacked out in Pittsburgh? |

Matt Murray is calder eligible next year. I think he would have a legit shot at the calder if it wasn't likely he would be splitting starts 50-50 with fleury.
Would be an interesting trivia question someday. Which player won a stanley cup before they wont he calder. Though their might be others since rosters get expanded for the playoffs. May have to specify goalie. - sditulli
That trivia question already has an answer and the answer is Ken Dryden who not only won a Cup in '71 but was the Conn Smythe winner and then won the Calder in '72.

Thanks, I found it. I forgot ESPN actually wanted to broadcast hockey. Listening to Barry Smellrose is torture. So called expert that picked against the Pens in every round. |

Wow Price is having a nice shaky Fleuryesque game. Maybe it's the arena? This whole game has been a snoozefest until the last 5 minutes or so. |

Murr won't be winning the Calder with Matthews and Laine in the mix. Those two kids are outrageous talents. |

My guess is Fluery and Murray split time and it all depends on which one gets hurt first. Sully will stop at nothing to try and screw Fluery over though. We know that much for sure. |

how did sullivan screw over fleury? murray played great in fleurys abscence thus he played murray until he played bad. fleury got to play 1 game and he complelty melted and almost lost a stanley cup cuz of it |

I don't think Sully would risk a chance at Stanley because of a personal vendetta. That wouldn't be a good career move. But, he may very well have a preference for Murray, which until proven otherwise will probably be the way he leans when pushed - just think, imagine not having confidence in the guy that just won you a Stanley Cup.
Great position to be in I think to have such good options available - now just how long that remains a good option is the question. |

That whole announcing crew was brutal. Mute button will be firmly pressed for the remainder of the ESPN games.

Last night was Steve Levy and Barry Melrose. Brett Hull, Chris Chelios and some other goober were between periods. ESPN has very little interest in hockey and it shows. |

I'll probably be proven wrong, but I'll throw in a bold prediction that no team will show a consistent display of results, & everyone will be beating everyone else with no real clear favourite for any game. I smell an upset......... |

I don't know I still feel like Canada's just going to roll over people when games start to matter. Russia's too defensively weak, Europe and Czechs aren't deep enough, USA's not skilled enough, Sweden's too offensively stagnant, and I didn't particularly like what I saw from the kids last night, granted I couldn't watch the whole thing. |

Were Hull and Chelios any good? I feel like that has some potential. |

Even in the loss to USA they looked dominant. I think the only thing that may take them out is an amazing goalie performance, which is really possible. It'll just have to happen when the single game elimination round starts. In one game anything can happen. |

The weird conversations that can happen when you get a bunch of relative experts in one field together are easily my favorite thing about conferences. |

After getting to finally watch some of the games I'm starting to feel that way as well. There's no doubt I think Canada is the best team and the favorite to win but in a 1 game elimination in the semis I can see them falling to any of the 4 teams they could possibly play just as the lost to the US in the 1st pre-tourney game when they were the better team but didn't come out on top.
I think Group A is pretty cut and dry, Canada will win the group and USA will be runner up simply because the Czechs and Team Europe are just inferior. Group B on the other hand is wide open and I think every possible combination of finishes is completely possible, no team in that bracket is going to go 3-0 and I wouldn't be surprised if it ended in a 4way tie. |

I wasn't impressed, they both were very green. I am sure they have much more to offer but unfortunately they will never get the chance. |
