Leaf fans think he prevented some dynasty from being founded by not waiving his no-trade clause, when they know full well the ownership and subsequent management was (frank)ing it all up on multiple levels anyway so it didn't matter. All Sundin did was try to carry the team on his back into the playoffs once again and go down with the ship like a true Captain, and some Leaf fans want to fault the man. It makes no sense to me.

It's gonna be fun to watch. Speaking of Prust if the kids are lighting it up and that means guys like Martin, Komogod whoever have to hit everything and punch guys, that could be fun hockey.

When I heard Kadri on the radio, when they asked him about healthy competition from centres coming in, Kadri really sounded like he meant it when said I'm at the point, I just want the team to be better. You could hear Boston Game 7 in that voice. He wants to win hockey games, he's stoked about the kids.

Prolonging Marner for next year, may buy them another year of the rebuild (which to be fair is rocky ground for the Leafs). I can't imagine you won't see a healthy dosage of Komarov, Martin, JVR, Nylander, Michalek and Greening. That's 6. Add in possibly Lupul, the you've got Hyman, Brown, Soshnikov, Reichel and Marner for one spot. Easiest thing to do is keep Mitch down for one more year

In that interview he made a couple of thinly veiled references to not knowing how some locker room stuff got out, we feel much safer now, etc, culture change....poop was (frank)ed up before Shanny cleaned house it sounds like, some beef there

Matthews only comparison can be McDavid right now. But he actually plays a more similar game to Marner. McDavid flys past players along the boards, Matthews creates space in the zone, often from the blue line. Matthews is amazing in tight spaces..

Right now okay, sure McDavid is better. But they are still young and Matthews seems to still be absorbing some of the knowledge of the pro game. I think we see what McDavid is now, and it's impressive yet reckless. Matthews seems to be a more steady type. They both seem to be above everyone else their age in terms of seeing the game.

Matthews showed some flashed of absolute brilliance... it's his ability to process and execute the game at such a high speed that draws the McDavid comparisons... but he has a long way to go put it all together.

Agreed. I personally (and it's only my opinion) think there's 1 more year of musical chairs to come without taking on unnecessary contracts as in the passed 2 years
