Unfortunately I think you're correct. We'll never see the cup back in Canada (in our lifetimes). Top Canadian players will never 'come home' because of whether, taxes and fans/media . You can't solely draft a Stanley Cup winning team and top players will never came back to Canada. Not with Shapchat, Facebook, Twitter or Grinder.

Wow, Brooks Laich is, like, the most articulate, broadcast quality well-spoken athlete I think I've ever heard. He just sounds like some veteran talk radio host. I just listened to an interview, I'd listen to this guy talk hockey for hours, he could host a show with no further preparation.

Then he's not suited for TO radio....

I'm not a scout, but his play reminds me of when I saw Kopitar start in the league. Don't think he'll ever get the points of McDavid, Crosby, Giroux, Seguin etc. But the stuff he does all around Is way beyond his years.

It's all reliant on his skills and abilities, his determination, and the teams ablility to nurture him and surround him with competent teammates.

I'm not a scout, but his play reminds me of when I saw Kopitar start in the league. Don't think he'll ever get the points of McDavid, Crosby, Giroux, Seguin etc. But the stuff he does all around Is way beyond his years.

I do agree. But this media can get the best of anyone. I think (if all pans out well) they've already got a lot of the pieces in place to help him. Matthews (given time) can do it all. PP, PK, defensive zone faceoff when you need a win/offensive zone faceoff when you're up by 1, against the top line, sneaky one against the 3rd line. You need a scoring presence on the 2nd line for this to work. This is where JVR/Nylander/Marner come in.
