Is this an example of the "soft troll" poop Nucks fans have been banging on about? - walshyleafsfan
Yeah probably.
The Canucks fans are like all the other fan bases here. If you go there to have fun, hell, even a little back and forth banter, you probably won't have a problem.
It is not difficult to figure out when you're being trolled though. |

You're right, Travis Sanheim is garbage. Terrible pick, trade him for Bolland. - jmatchett383

We shall see won't we? I mean, one is a top 5 pick, and has been in the NHL since he was 19. And is looking great on the North American young star team. How's Provorov doing? |

Well, to date, Morgan Reilly does have more success at the NHL level.
So does Roman Polak. |

Fine, Gostisbehere for Nylander, but every Maple Leafs fan has to wear a Canadiens jersey to every game they attend for 2 years. - jmatchett383

Probably not. But if you wanted the top defensemen not playing in the NHL, he's probably a top 15 if not top 10. Again, Philadelphia needs defense more than offense, so if you wanted one of the big 4, an overpayment would be necessary.
I am not saying that Sanheim is better than any of those 3 on a direct comparison. |

To date: Reilly > Provorov.
However, I concede, the two are/were very compararble at age 19. |

thats fair
D are just so much harder to project or predict what NHL impact they will have.
Does not make sense to overpay for one |

I think Matthews is going to be a very talented player. I'm not sure he will ever be "elite" though, as in a top-5 player. I believe that Provorov can be a top-3 defenseman. Because of that, I would only trade him for McDavid (which will not happen). It's also because Philadelphia needs defensive help more than they need offensive help. - jmatchett383
Hmmm.
What leads you to believe Provorov will be a top 3 in the league...that is pretty high expectations |

Sounds like some past Leaf d-men expectations to me. He's a solid prospect, perhaps one of the best, but haven't seen him in the show yet.
Now ghost bear....he impressed the hell out of me last year. |

I guess a better question is, are you certain that he's anything more than the next Pitkanen? He's an elite prospect for sure, I'm not arguing that, but he's a top 10 pick d-man....they can either become a Doughty, a Bogosian, or a Schenn as some examples. |

Well, admittedly, I have not watched him a ton.
However, he flat-out dominated the WHL last year, and was the best defensman in the CHL. He also plays a low-key yet effective physical game, and has the body to do so. He makes reads on plays like an NHL vet, and there really isn't a weakness to his game with or without the puck. I truly believe he could be a Lidstrom-lite player, maybe a Doughty type. My opinion. |

Absolutely. Throw Hamrlik in there, too.
At the same time, Matthews could be the next Crosby, Daigle, Stefan, Lecavalier, etc.
Until they've played in the big show for a few years, hard to tell. |
