yup... that was a slip up for sure... i am sure immediately afterwards Lou texted him a pic of the forms he was going to use to pour Naz's concrete shoes if he said something that stupid again.

first time Kadri actually talks about the team instead of himself, and he inadvertedly
throws the team under the bus

it's only going to reinforce the negative stereotypes of the team and give added fodder and ammunition to fans of rival teams... that even a current player himself was talking about throwing games for a better pick.

Watching Laine play and there's absolutely no way there was any serious consideration for him as a #1 pick.

You really cant judge any player on a couple of pre-tourney games...good or bad.

The one and only way to rate a player is based off of his most recent game.

An organization "trying to lose" is about consciously not using all their resources to win every night or win as many games as possible in a season. It is not new, and it is not the first or the 50th time a team has done that. I have no problem with blowing up a core that is clearly not going to ever contend for the hope that you can build something better.

By the way, the Leafs had more points last year than the year before.

Throwing games is a whole 'nother thing and only a troll from another fan base would take it there.

“This year, it is going to be totally different, meaning expectations are going to be higher.” Leafs center Nazem Kadri said on TSN’s Overdrive on Monday. “We are playing every single game to win, we are not trying to finish in the cellar anymore and I really think that time for us is over.”

Is he implying that the Leafs were trying to lose some games and tried to finish in the cellar last year?

He obviously didn't choose his words wisely, and I'm clearly being sarcastic, but look at the quote:

"We are playing every single game to win"
"we are not trying to finish in the cellar anymore"

At face value, the first quote implies that they were not playing to win every game last year.
The second quote implies that they were trying to finish in the basement.

Clearly (I'd hope for his sake), he misplaced words (i.e. "We are trying to not finish in the cellar anymore," is better). Just having a little fun.

they'll probably use this quote from Kadri, "This year, it is going to be totally different, meaning expectations are going to be higher.” Leafs center Nazem Kadri said on TSN’s Overdrive on Monday. “We are playing every single game to win"

Not at all.
Its his body of work.
If matthews (or any other player) doesnt score a lot or do well this tourney, I wouldnt be worried in the least.

Just like if he lights it up, Im still not going to be foolishly expecting him to score 70 plus points this season.
Having a good or bad tourney doesnt change anything about what is expected of the player.

These are guys that go through High School with 50's generously given because they are star athletes. Yet you expect him to know how to turn a phrase?

I'd expect him to have a general grasp of the English language and know how to correctly place parts of a sentence to convey a thought.

my favourite was when Buffalo traded Ehnroth after he stole a few wins. not sit him. trade him far away. Tim Murray is an animal.
