Schmaltz is a scratch for the 2nd game. - L_B_R
Likely a "we already know what we've got in him" v. sitting for bad play? |

Was thinking the same thing. Probably want to switch up the lines and get the scratches into the game.
Top line for Europe is Tatar-Kopitar-Hossa... Like their two way cycle game.....hmmmmmm
Also Nielson is playing well. |

Nice goal by Motte to get them back in the game in the third.I was also impressed by Fortin as he seemed to be a presence out there even though to me he didn't seem to have a great game.I used to go watch these games when they played in London but I am thankful that at least I am able to watch online. - eagle50
Just scored his 2nd goal of the game and although it is only a rookie game he is making a statement and I would bet that he ends with a contract. |

Yes!He came out of the Q after an injury riddled season and was undrafted. |

If the Hawks could get Tatar they could roll a similar line. Swap Kopitar with Toews |

Tatar would cost the Hawks a pretty hefty price. Additionally he will need a raise very soon. Would like to see him in an indianhead to be honest.
Schmaltz and TVR for Draisaitl. Top 6 is set. |

When all the players and the coach are saying the team rides through Kane, that he needs to have the puck as much as possible, I'm not surprised Kane is trying to do everything himself. Also doesn't help that no one else on his line can carry in a puck and they were losing it during every dump in. Kane had 4 good setups on the powerplay too, not a one was buried.

Is it? I doubt anything short of a true top 4 defensemen or a current top 6 forward will get Draisaitl out of Edmonton. They had him penciled in at their 2C, above RNH, and he was playing 1C when McDavid was out. They've got enough 3rd pair defensemen now that they probably wouldn't care about TVR at all. |

no surpise the US losses today. Torts is the worst choice and i can't believe USA hockey would pick him. |

According to Scott Powers, Forsling has been he best prospect at rue tournaments so far. While Forsling is still a long shot to make the club this season wouldn't it be interesting if he did. I'm sure at that point TvR would be dealt for sure. |

And hence, some of the selections of personnel and odd coaching decisions are no surprise either. Reap what you sow. |

I see your point. Thanks for clarifying. I imagine most fans wanted Saad over Sharp. Although I love Sharp, I would have chosen Saad as well.
I'm guardedly optimistic that Sharp will re-sign at an affordable price with the Hawks after his contract expires with the Stars so he can retire in Chicago. A 3rd line of Sharp, Kruger, and Hossa would be super but likely a pipe dream. - AEL_Fox
There ain't nothing wrong with that dream!!! We can only hope! |

Curious Sage, you have any numbers for PITT, STL, TB, SJ or any other of the better clubs?
Look at the poor 5 on 5 numbers and realize they were a post or two away from beating STL in round 1, some freakish lineup decisions from getting past STL, bannishing a 4/5 Dman (who skated top 2 for the cup champ) to replace him in the Game 7 lineup v STL with Rundblad and rookie Gus and two rookie Dmen in the lineup most of the year.
Does this say the Hawks can't win with similar 5 on 5 numbers or playing the hand dealt to you correctly will get you to the final 4 or 8?
Summarize: Hawks sucked but were this close. - Mr Ricochet
Maddening coaching decisions! As bad as that seemed to be, looking gassed more times then not, we were still a post away from getting out of the first round. That's how good this team was then. Boy are we spoiled! And for the Blues fans, that was their Stanley Cup! |
