Then there was Bryan McCabe. Take those 4 assets and get those picks and we wouldn't be where we are. We don't get into the Kessel for Seguin and Hamilton trade, then it snowballed. It means that I've seen mediocre hockey for 50 years and have seen too much hero worship of players who didn't deserve the mantle of greatness. The last great Leafs playoff run was done primarily without Sundin in the lineup. He was injured early and the great warrior, Gary Roberts lead the team with grit and determination. Players like Tucker, Corson, McCauley and Green, showed more heart then Sundin had ever shown.

And valuing guys like Tucker and the others you mentioned over Sundin is exactly why we have issues. They were great soldiers, but they did not have the ability of Sundin. You win Stanley cups with ability, not Caresi

I hope not! I want a real competitor who'll take the body, as well as be a great scorer. I still remember the Muskoka 5 and him not waiving his no trade clause. He set the franchise back, at least 5 years. He convinced people like Kaberle and others to do the same. When I think about that trade that Philly had on the table, a first plus Jeff Carter for Kaberle, can you imagine where we could have been with the rebuild? To hell with Sundin.....he'll always be a loser in my books.

p.s. I also remember the Belfour snub, when Cujo left for Detroit and when they went to the Motor City for a road game, the core had dinner with Cujo and ignored their new goalkeeper. So much for respect for the fanbase. Again, to hell with Sundin!

Yeah guys, get your the heads out of your collective asses. No one wants to be like symba.

Mats Sundin was a great hockey player. The guy is in the Hall of Fame for a reason. I recall Holland had a trade worked out with the Leafs but Mats vetoed it with his no Trade clause. Thinking about it now, it would have been very weird seeing him wearing a Wings jersey. Kind of like when Wendel Clark was a Red Wing briefly in 1999. I just couldn't accept it.
