Seriously though, camp starts in a month. Some pretty talented RFA's still unsigned. They will probably all remain with their teams, but who do you think could move? Lindholm might be pricing himself out of Anaheim. - BetterCallSaul
If the Ducks move Lindholm, they are (frank)ed in the head. |

Murray is such a mixed-bag GM. This has to be his last shot. No other reason he would go back to Carlyle other than hoping lightning strikes twice (sans the 3 HOFers they had before lol) |

every line up anyone comes up with leaves out three or four players the leafs already have But sure. Add another guy. nice blog mike. Almost as good as the one where we sign Russell and have 9 defenseman on the roster.
Mind you I love Prust. But come on.

It means that I've seen mediocre hockey for 50 years and have seen too much hero worship of players who didn't deserve the mantle of greatness. The last great Leafs playoff run was done primarily without Sundin in the lineup. He was injured early and the great warrior, Gary Roberts lead the team with grit and determination. Players like Tucker, Corson, McCauley and Green, showed more heart then Sundin had ever shown.
You can insult me all you want, but it doesn't make you smarter, it makes you naive.
If you don't like my opinion, then it's your problem. Why other fans troll us, is because too many of us walk around with rose coloured glasses and can't see the Leafs for what they are and have been. Losing does that. - PrinceLH

Other fans troll us because we're like whipped dogs who don't want to show our teeth anymore. What Leaf fans have forgotten along the way is we're the greatest fanbase on this earth. Maybe it's time we started behaving like it again.

That was for Kaberle. How much would have Sundin brought us in a trade, as well? Wasn't there a first on the table for Pavel Kubina at the same time, that wasn't cashed in? Then there was Bryan McCabe. Take those 4 assets and get those picks and we wouldn't be where we are. We don't get into the Kessel for Seguin and Hamilton trade, then it snowballed. Poor management and poor asset management. It's why the Leafs were laughed at for decades. It's interesting how allot of you folks are satisfied with mediocrity. You don't know what winning really looks like for a Leafs hockey team. 98% of you haven't even seen a Leafs team in a final, on live T.V. You weren't even born yet. But keep discussing it! History shows what Sundin was a very good hockey player, but not a great hockey player. Not in the discussion with people like Messier, Gretzky, Sakic, Forsberg etc. - PrinceLH
Messier isn't in the same conversation as Gretzky, same with those other guys.
otherwise i'd agree with you on your general points that asset mgmt and mgmt in general have been the bane of this organization...
until these guys in charge actually accomplish something I don't think anyone can give them credit for being "good" or anything positive really. a team that finished 30th and the President (shanahan) acknowledges that the club "earned it" just showed where his head was at.
the team has to win its division, get to the 4th round of the playoff tournament, maybe win the regular season championship (president's trophy), and generally be successful for a stretch... then give the organization and mgmt some credit.
the Senators did it for awhile, the Nux had it for awhile... i can recall watching the team and knowing that in any game against any team the club could legitimately win. listening to the opposition announcers on the opposition feed and hearing them tell their own fans that it's going to be tough to win against the Nux, and how solid they were top 1 or 3 in the league in a myriad of criteria and when going into the third period down 2-3 goals never felt like the team was out of it.
that was a great time to be a fan for sure, and i relished that time frankly cuz it never lasts as long as you hope and you might not win the SC tournie... but it was a fun ride.
i think what Prince is saying is that you need to get that level of success to judge accurately about the place in history for some of these players that have had some flash but no sustained success in a leafs uniform. |

Nobody likes being second fiddle as a fan. But it happens to pretty much everybody for stretches. |
