I think that's the natural causality from having to move out the "Bad Culture".

Instead of big, ugly contracts with the wrong players, now we have a few shorter contracts for crappy players we just can't move.

It slows down the process of bringing up the younger/better players until those contracts expire or Lou the Magician Lam moves them.

Chara looked pretty terrible out there. This is why I'm not overly worried about the tough, hard-hitting D in the Atlantic - most of them are really not very mobile, so Matthews, Nylander and Marner will be able to walk around them fairly easily
