Don't care what the case may be, but Tobias Rieder and Arizona are apparently "very far" in contract talks.
Why should we care? He was an Edmonton Prospect that was let go due to poopty management 5-6 years ago.
But why should we still care?
RW, 23 years old, German (LD-Rieder Hyper link), backchecks, and a beast in the transitional approach to the game.
How much is he asking?
3-4mill depending on term of course (3mill for 5-6 years or 4mill for 4 years is the most probable case).
I loved Rieder a prospect. If fact, I'm sure most of us did. It was such a shame to see him go.
A hyperlink of LD-Rieder would be amazing, in fact, we might start calling it the Blitzkrieg.
If Chia can make the move (Yak might be involved in this case), I just hopes he does before someone else does, and I sure that all of us would agree that it would be a damn good move.
Edit: Don't give me any BS about "how hyperlinks containing players from similar countries don't affect their play." Go look at Sweden's defense for crying out loud or the Sedin twins and Eriksson. Yeah, that's what I thought. - EdmHockeyMan
Except that Reider made it clear that he didn't want to sign in Edmonton. The return was still poop but at the time a lot of people praised it. Both prospects at that time were looking good and Kessy had the size and grit everyone was drooling over. Hindsight mutha (frank)a |

New management, fresh start.
Chia would love to have a guy like Rieder in Oiler Silks. His style of paly perfectly suits Chia's preference. - EdmHockeyMan
Oh? Have you asked Chia about this?
(frank) you're dumb sometimes. |

A lot of idiots. He was Moroz with slightly more production and still is just that. |

It was a shot in the dark for a shot in the dark. One worked out sort of and the other hasn't. Reider's are a dime a dozen anyways. |

I wouldn't complain about either. |

No, but looking at the type of players he selects, his preferences are quite clear.
Just like how you often say that he is building a team of big, gritty, "slow-ass," "Meatheads," you imply that you seem to "understand" a take on Chia's preference when it comes to building a roster.
So if you're calling me dumb, you're also shooting yourself in the foot as well.

Not everybody praised it and I was one of them.
Also, once again, new management, fresh start, new arena, and the McDavid factor.
Chia should at least try.
At the very most, you're looking at Yak (To open up a RW spot) and a decent to good prospect being sent in return (My bet is on Reinhart if it happens).
Also, hindsight can go get a rimjob from JB! |

Yak and Reinhart for Reider? Yup almost sounds stupid enough that Chia would do it.
God you're a moron. |

Thank you. I'm glad that you called me a moron. If you've got anything else to say, please do, I'd love to hear it. Btw, care to explain your rationale as to why that would be even remotely stupid? Please provide your own critique (for I will provide mine) without looking like a bigot every two seconds.
For the Yotes, there are multiple ways this plays out.
They could sign Rieder and keep him for 3-4 years.
They could let Rieder go and sign with another team via offer sheet for picks (2nd+3rd if the range is 3.5-4m if I am correct)
They could trade Rieder for some decent value (Most probable case unless Rieder forces the Yotes hand).
I love how fast you jump to conclusions without putting an ounce of outside thought btw. I clearly said the only way Rieder would be traded is if Chia offered Yak (To clear a RW spot) and a decent to good prospect, which in my mind would be Reinhart if Chia plays his cards right. Unless you want to trade away Davidson, you're going to try to play aggressive in order to get what you want, especially since Rieder could easily just go and sign with another team and screw the Yotes over if he wanted to, therefore Rieder has the upper hand in this scenario.
So again, why on Earth would you want to give up more than Yak and perhaps Reinhart (or any other decent to good prospect you have in mind) if that may be the case?
Edit: Note the "at the most" portion of the previous post I wrote would be IMO Yak and possibly Reinhart. Also, the Davidson example is an exaggeration. Don't go batpoop crazy please.
Edit #2: You also have to assume that Yak's value is way down the drain. Keep that in mind.
Edit #3: The least that would probably be offered is Yak for Rieder straight-up imo, but I cannot see that working out unless something else happens. |

Except Rieder was a MUCH safer bet at having a career as he was among the leaders in OHL EV strength scoring in both of his last two junior seasons while being among the top two-way players. I'm aware of the situation surrounding Rider and why Edmonton couldn't sign him, but I refuse to submit that anyone remotely intelligent couldve called it an even remotely equivalent trade in any capacity. Kessy was always trash; Rieder was (and now is) a legitimate potential scoring winger. |

Exactly.
No better way to put it.
Kessy was the definiton of having the tools but no toolbox at all to fully establish himself into, well, anything. |

Except he had/has no tools either. He's Moroz with a SLIGHTLY better scoring touch |

He's not a moron. He's just overly enthusiastic and optimistic. Gets an idea in his noggin and loses perspective sometimes.
