Kessler can't make that hit but Weber puts himself in a terrible spot by not actually skating and retrieving the puck. If Weber skates and gets the puck he is turned and Kessler staples him against the boards, likely hitting him from the side while he is upright against the boards. Players put themselves in bad spots all the times and I wonder how much of it has to do with knowing that if Kessler hits him there he knows he likely gets a big call for his team. Weber saw him coming, chose not to go get the puck because he knows he would have had a good chance of being separated from it. He knows its a better team play to pull up short and play it that way imho. Agree? Disagree?

Webe saw him coming and put himself in that position. To me it should void any penalty. You cannot protect the puck by putting yourself in a position that you cannot be hit. If that kind of thinking stars to go into play then anytime you feel pressure just turn your back and stick your butt out into the hitting lane.

It would be one thing if Weber was not staring at him as Kessler beared down on him. I thought Kessler was soft on how hard he could have hit him, trying to push him into a better position to take th hit, but again Weber wanted to play it in a dangerous manner.

It is a two way street and bth the hitter and the hitee have got to be responsble, otherwise there will be no checking.

I would have preferred Fontaine but there is your Wild/Blues connection.

Getting the old gang back together? - Yan, Porter, and possibly Sobotka,

Any more news on Sobotka's injury?

Watch him officially come back, sit the majority of the year because of injury, then leave in free agency.

Porter, Stastny, Weber, Galiardi, Nystrom, and Vaughan.

None of them make team out of camp but could be injury call ups if they decide to sign with the Blues on 2 way contracts.

We do have to have guys up right now to help out with training camp while players are at the World Cup.

Not reading much into these pto signings at all.

IMO Porter has a shot to stay if if they trade a bottom 6 forward

MPS or Sobotka get traded or both I think Porter has the best shot.

I hope they sign Weber and Statsny to two way deals and leave them in Chicago to help lead that group.

I know the blues are close on contracts.

Jammer have you gotten any clarification on that front

I know that teams can have up to 23 players on the NHL roster at any time. They scratch 3 in order to play a game so 12 forwards 6 defense and 2 goalies

Spotrac has us at 23 but that includes Lindbohm and Bortuzzo up. !3 forwards, 8 defense, and 2 Goalies.

Looks like Parayko, Fabbri, and Lindbohm are the only players currently on 2 way deals.

Yeah it gets crazier than that as Junior Players count one way College players count another and people in Chicago count another

So we are at 47 or 53 depending on the site you look at

I am so sick of Sobotka

Just let him ride this year out on the fourth line interchanging when Brodziak needs a night off and lets just let him go

Or trade him and bring in another bottom 6 player

I don't care its getting old with this guy

Post Dispatch is a joke. Read an article talking about the 6 players brought in on PTO's. They were giving a rundown on Nystrom. Previous teams: Calgary, Minnesota, and Nashville. Then they put a picture right next to that of Nystrom in a Dallas uniform battling Cracknell (with the Blues) for the puck.

Grade A stuff there.

I read something from the Blues about who is this years Upshall and I wanted to scream what about Upshall

none of these guys are improvements over the 4th line guys we have

MPS Upshall Brodziak Reaves and Sobotka will do just fine on the fourth line

Yep, I think so also. Unless we trade someone or someone goes down for a long time due to injury there will be no more signings anyway.

MPS, Brodziak, Upshall, and Reaves are all we need as a 4th line. I like Porter, but he will just be in Chicago all year if he signs. Maybe The Wolves need some veteran leadership to help guide the prospects.

I mentioned Weber and Yan Statsny on one year deals to be leaders in Chicago

Porter would be a nice guy to hold on to in STL as a replacement but that likely will go to Rattie and MPS

Definitely something I thought that many people seem to be ignoring. Training camp opens 9/24 but a lot of people will be missing.

More disappointing is that they Blues charge me full price for two pre-season games where 1/3 to 1/2 of the NHL roster will be at the world cup of hockey. Complete BS.
