Actually no. Even Canadien fans would say McDonagh was spectacular in that series, and Subban was meh.

Do I think its a gauge on who is the better defenseman, of course not. And apparently you aren't familiar with RD.

McDonagh was Leetch-like that series though for sure

Subban was spent after the war with the Bruins.

Yeah Norris should have nothing to do with making playoffs. Either way, Karlsson is undeniably the best puck moving D in the league and is the best passer in the entire league, finished 4th overall. How NHL classed him as 8th overall player and Doughty at #6 is completely beyond logic; that's nothing to take away from Doughty who is an amazing defense and player. A defense being 4th overall in points, playing on a non playoff hockey team, still posting solid defensive stats should warrant a rating higher than 4th overall player, simply due to the fact that he plays defense and still has to carry the burden of and responsibility defensively, not only offensive.

On that note, James Tanner, for one thing, I am excited for the new season because I think Sens are taking the league by storm. Not only does the entire league know they vastly under performed last season, they improved their roster over the summer, players have matured and they appear to have a much better coach. The addition of T healthy Turris, Macarthur, Methot to the lineup and the addition of Phaneuf as a reliable top 4D, should vastly improve their chances. I think they are a playoff team before Wings or Bruins.

The Wings will finish last or 29th, depending on how crappy Vancouver is, but IDK about the Sens making the Playoffs. I'd definitely have Boston ahead of them.

Anything can happen in a league full of parity. I'll be cheering for them.

they really need 2 separate defenseman awards
- mrn22

Except when people used to say they should make Jake Gardiner a forward, this is the worst idea that people ever have about hockey.

I don't know if Letang will win it, but I do know he will probably not have a better set-up for winning it than this coming season.

If he can stay healthy he will be in the top 3 candidates I would think.

Doughty should win it again as he is the best defenceman. If they give it to Karlsson, it's because they don't understand that points don't mean you have an excellent overall game. And if they give it to Subban then they need to lay off the crack pipe again like they did that one season.

Love how you can explain Subban getting a better production because he's going on the 10th best powerplay compared to the 25th yet no mention on how Nashville's powerplay will suffer from losing Shea Weber who added something like 15 pp goals for them.

Subban scored 6 goals last year... 3 on the powerplay. If anything, Nashville's powerplay got worst no?

I'll try to dodge to corsi bombs now.

Oh and my pick for the Norris? Erik Karlsson.

EK65 will put up 87 points next year, yet will lose. Boucher intends to take away his PK time. Wants him to play more 5v5. Which is a good move. The voters will say no PK? No Norris.

Despite the fact he's likely to hit 60 assists, make half the team do Hoffman impressions and will his team to a late seed playoff spot, he will lose. Doughty PKs. There's no muzzin here to help eat minutes at an elite level, just five other guys giving karlsson a breather because he can only play half the game every single night.

Have to remember, it doesn't go to a great all around defenseman, only Karlsson who can score alot of points and apparently can now play defense, which I have yet to see him do.

Doughty isn't even the best defenseman on his team. Norris this past year was an embarrassment.

Karlsson is the best defenseman to play in the last 40 years, just ask Bobby Orr or Denis Potvin...

The Norris trophy is a joke. It was meant to go to the best defenseman not the highest scoring defenseman. If you want to reward the top scorer create a new trophy. Maybe the Bobby Orr Trophy

Clearly you folks have never REALLY watched hockey.....Morgan Rielly is the second coming of Bobby Orr. He will grab the next 12.

Right, because Bobby Orr was terrible at defense, and was just all about scoring.
