This place used to be filled with rational posters and even when there was disagreements it was fun. Now it's a bunch of homers and no fun.
Enjoy. - Iggysbff

3 weeks till hockey, this is what we have to do to fill the time, talk about plug players.
Or we just kill Alfie, either or - DDM-Coga
He'd likely be harder to find than Bin Laden. Rather just keep him around the Buzz. Everybody need's a heel. |

Just to preempt something that I'm sure will happen regardless, can we all agree to wait until around game 15 or 20 before we decide to pass judgement (good or bad) on Larsson? Dmen often have an adjustment period and- as with Sekera last year- it's usually between 10 and 20 games. Conversely, just because he has a few good games doesn't mean he'll keep playing at that level. |

I have the same worry. So many people are going to eat him alive if he has a slow start, all because his cost was Hall. I do not envy his situation. |

It certainly wouldn't be the first time its happened and it'd be far from the last. I'd rather just try to nip that type of stuff in the bud at least within these threads where I can sanely discuss most hockey-related subjects. |

I expect a Sekera like stumble out of the gate. But I also expect a similar recovery.
New team, new city, new coach and new systems. Adjustments will be required. |

Yeah, no doubt... There's a lot of adjustments indeed... Especially for a d-man. Hope Oil fans don't run this one out of town!!! |

One so magnificent as Larsson will care not for the quarrels of such lowly mortals.

Just realized this, but has anyone realized that Larsson and Klefbom were both left out of the Sweden Roster in favour of Lindholm and Stralman... (Yes, I KNOW that Klefbom has had that foot problem, but didn't it clear up like a month ago?)
Interesting selections nonetheless (not to say that Lindholm and Stralman are bad defenders, but why them?) |

Because Stralman has chemistry with their top Dman (Hedman) and because Lindholm is among the best Dmen in the league. Larsson isn't on the same tier and Klefbom (while getting close), hasn't proven it over a full season yet. Problem solved.
Also, since they haven't played together yet, the benefit of in-built chemistry doesn't apply to them. |

Hey man, I only said he's not on the same tier; never said where that tier was. He's OBVIOUSLY on his own tier above all others and is so far removed that it wouldn't even be fair to call him a defenseman anymore. Larsson is love; Larsson is life. - MaximumBone
The only way to prove you mean this is if you switch out half of your Klefbom posters for Larsson posters.
Are you ready to perform this act of contrition brother MaxBone? |

The Stralman reasoning does make sense, but Lindholm among the best Dmen in the league? I really don't think so. He is damn good and I mean damn good, but so is Klefbom and Larsson. |

In-built chemistry, I understand as well, but still, Larsson is probably AT THE VERY LEAST, the best definition possible of an ideal shutdown defender. |

I'd give Klefbom up for Hampus in a heartbeat.

Very true. But he isn't a very sexy name for that very reason, nor has he had any significant playoff experience like the rest.
Hence he gets passed up. |

Really?
If this foot injury doesn't do any damage to Klefbom's long term progress in the NHL, I'd easily take Klefbom over Lindholm any day of the week.
Klefbom is probably the best complete defender (assuming he continues to play how he did last year) we have had since Pronger. |

WOW. I'm seriously shocked.
Don't get me wrong, Lindholm is a beast of a defender, but I just feel that Klefbom is turning out to become the better complete defender.
I just hope Klefbom continues that trend into this season as well. |

I've been among his clergy for longer than any of you and you dare question MY devotion to his holiness? Klefbom is one of Larsson's (praise be unto him) 3 pillars of faith who form the fundamental tenants of our faith. The cursed usurper Oliver Ekman-Larsson dares not infringe upon the realms of Larsson. |

I apologize for questioning your faith brother MaxBone. You most certainly are not the heretic that was foretold.
