After reading Corey Pronman's rankings I've come to the conclusion he must hate Toronto.

He also had William Nylander higher than a lot of North American skaters, compared to other rankings, in his draft year.

No significant hockey has been played since the draft, so it makes sense he still has Laine ahead of Matthews.

Good points. And I think all things being equal, natural position makes a difference. The Leafs being the prime example of many teams that need to build around a centre. I think almost all teams would have drafted Matthews first.
