It's an absolutely fantastic thread to be in. I spend most of my time there. Mainly because they sound exactly like Leafs fans did under Burke/JFJ/Nonis, there's more Leafs talk there than anywhere else I've found on this site, they absolutely despise Toronto and the Leafs to the point where nothing makes sense anymore it's just Spatso- like statements, and it's so easy to get them tied up in knots.
Their opinions change like the wind, they're so Pro-Benning it's awesome to see and the kicker for me, I genuinely think the IQ level is alot lower there than here, so I get to win more arguments.

But they can't understand why so many leaf fans in there..... |

The guy honestly said he thinks Boeser will have a better career than marner his reasoning behind it was marner has never played against men in the NHL and his high point totals mean nothing until he makes the NHL.
But wait...Boeser has never played in the NHL...I guess NCAA means NHL experience now.
How can you be that (frank)ing clueless - Santo_44
The NCAA does have players up to 22 and 23 (I guess that's men to them), the thing is, they're not very good. Especially the division Boeser is playing in. It's filled with NCAA teams that have never managed squat.

One of them made a comment about Leaf fans being arrogant despite having no reason to be, as they haven't won anything in decades, last night.
the irony in that is unreal.
To your comment about Burke/Nonis/JFJ, it's comical watching it all unfold. A team, ripe with veterans keeping them mediocre, trading away youth for vets, with a garbage group of prospects..... They're a crappier version of the Leafs of 2006-2009. |

I wouldn't blanket the NCAA as not very good. There are some divisions that aren't, but Hockey East for one is pretty solid. I went to PC and got to see that division in person every weekend. |

One is a daily poopshow, only good for laughing at.
The other one was the Buffalo fan base taking one for the team to benefit us all |

It's decent hockey to watch, and there are a few good players, but with an extra 4 or 5 years of growing up, even Hockey East would have a hard time with the CHL. The CHL is a little more..... varied, because there are some 16 and 17 year olds there, but the caliber of talent is WAY better, just younger and less developed.
The idea that the NCAA is men's hockey vs the CHL being boys, is a little misconceived as well. The NCAA is a relatively soft brand of hockey. They call things really tight, and the rules are pretty restrictive. |

Juolevi? Meh, not that great. borderline A level I guess. He'd rank 4th or 5th in the Leafs system. He's a decent 2 way dman, but 42 points is nothing special, and even that was buoyed by Marner and the other Knights powerhouse forwards.
I legit thought he was the third best dman in the draft, and probably should have gone late first round, maybe even second. I was shocked when they took him so high. |

2015 - Eichel, Hanifan, Werenski all in the top 10
Edit: I am in no way arguing the NCAA is better, just that it is a solid league. |

Never really went on there but I read the thread and it's hillarious. It's funny to see how much they envy our team right now. It's the first time in a long time we have players we can be very proud of. It's almost like they know it and are just trying to prove to themselves that we are where Vancouver is right now and that's where we were 6 years ago
I almost feel bad for them they have a lot of pain coming. And as long as Benning is there it'll be another 10 years just like the JFK/Burke/Nonis era |

Disagree, and you sound like a Vancouver fan discussing Toronto prospects.
He would be the #1 D prospect in our system, easily, assuming Rielly can no longer be called a prospect.

Name all the stars that have come out of the NCAA.
Name all the stars that have come out of the CHL.
You won't find the lists are even comparable.
I am not sure I believe their 30% of players either.

like i say, the caliber of player in the NCAA is not very high. Older, yes. Better, no. Not nearly as good in the NCAA. And that division is not a very good one. |
