In no particular order:

Crosby
Ovechkin
Price
Karlsson
Kane
Kopitar
Tarasenko
Benn
Malkin
Seguin

I know people will think I'm being a homer by throwing Malkin in there and I think he gets overlooked because of injuries the past few years, but it's hard to argue with his results and how he dominated when healthy this year.

How is Seguin not in the top ten?

McDavid probably will be a Top Ten player, but as good as he was I can't put him up there just yet. I feel like the Hockey News were obligated to throw a young player like him up there to make it interesting.

Go ahead Feds... let me see that head shake

So 7.5 players listed in the top 10 are correct?

You're right. I was in all honestly about to edit my post about how JT doesn't get the respect he deserves. He's definitely a good argument for top ten.

No fight from me there. Yeah, his point production isn't top-ten, but he plays top-ten in every area of the ice.

Coming from you the man who is never wrong? Using stats to validate every debate you have on this site! Don't you ever get tired of being such a (frank) head.

Ovechkin puts up a lot of goals, yet nobody ever mentions how many shots he puts on net.

Taking a look at shooting percentages, Ovechkin only ranks 44th for career shooting percentage among active players.

http://www.hockey-referen...ders/shot_pct_active.html

His defense has improved, but is still lacking.

Without so many shots on net, he's good, but, in my mind, not the "elite goal scorer" that is constantly thrown out there. And wouldn't even be ranked as high as 11 in my list of the best players...

Replace Doughty and Toews with Tavares and Ovechkin. Your list is now complete.

To me stats are important, however they don't paint the full picture. They can be super mis leading.

Well he did lead his team 3 times to winning the stanley cup in the last what 6 years?

That's gotta count for something.

He lead them? Or was it Kane, Hossa, Keith, Crawford, etc.?

I'm all about stats when they're used in proper context. Our "friend" here uses them out of context all the time, yet disregards any stats others use to defend their arguments.
