Ovechkin puts up a lot of goals, yet nobody ever mentions how many shots he puts on net.

Taking a look at shooting percentages, Ovechkin only ranks 44th for career shooting percentage among active players.

http://www.hockey-referen...ders/shot_pct_active.html

His defense has improved, but is still lacking.

Without so many shots on net, he's good, but, in my mind, not the "elite goal scorer" that is constantly thrown out there. And wouldn't even be ranked as high as 11 in my list of the best players...

Why does he get so many more shots on everyone else? Oh yeah because he's the best at getting shots on net and scoring goals.

I did not say getting shots on net was not a skill. What I'm saying is that there are plenty of players who, if they took as many shots as Ovechkin, would put up just as many if not more goals.

Sure...and there's plenty of people who, if they made as much money as Elon Musk, would be billionaires.

But they don't and they're not.

I know McDavid had a good rookie campaign, maybe a little early to call him Top 10?

I say knock McDavid, Doughty and Pavelski out of the top 10.

No, it's genius. Because now 3,000 morons are smashing their keyboards and giving free publicity to a failing, garbage publication.

If you think about it, you're just thinking about if someone is watching hockey which means you aren't watching hockey if you think about it.

Yikes....do you even watch hockey? Getting shots on net is very difficult. Especially at the speeds that Ovechkin skates at. Generating shots to produce rebounds and scoring opportunities takes an enormous amount of skill. If it were so easy to take shots, I am sure that 99% of the league would have as many as Ov which they sadly don't.

Drop Carey Price from that list. Just because the Habs collapsed without him, that doesn't mean they are going to be any good with him in net this year.

After 1 full year of a solid Carey Price and the Habs still missing the playoffs people's opinions will change. Their hot start last year was not indicative of the strength of their team.

I guess what I'm saying is that the Habs suck all of the balls.
