What an amazingly poor take from Tanner.

Claims he doesn't follow the mainstream at all yet falls deeply in love with any 1st overall pick with hype.

He talked so much sh!t about how Matthews is better than Laine and a month later admits he hasn't seen Laine play other than WJC-U20 (where Laine played far better than Matthews.)

The joke is getting old; Tanner doesn't doesnt watch much hockey and doesn't know what he's looking at when he does.

James Tanner

Yes. Connor McDavid. He will win the scoring title by 20 points with his upcoming 50 goal 110 point season. I really think that if he's healthy there is no stopping him.

FFS, Tanner. This is awful because A- you watch so little of the Oilers to know what you are talking about, and B- because everytime you predict something for the Oilers, the polar opposite happens....so thanks for jinxing McJesus.

Tanner reads fantasy stats and knows hockey, like Evander Kane knows how to drink and properly conduct himself in public.

McDavid is the most talented player in the NHL and the only person with that much talent on the right side of his prime. I see no reason why he won't dominate the NHL for the next decade.

110 points was me holding back.

- James_Tanner

For just one season I'll take Crosby over McDavid any day. Crosby plays defense and is a great leader. McDavid hasn't done anything yet to be given the best anything label.

This

It's like anything less than a phenomenal season by the 19 year old and it's seen as a disappointment.

While it's true some of things I saw him capable of doing last season I'd never really seen before, 50 goals and 110 points are huge expectations.

80 and leading the oilers to playoff contention has to be considered a great season by Any realistic metric

While it's true Crosby has proven more than Connor cause he's played longer, connor did some pretty phenomenal stuff in his rookie year. And what's this about implying Connor doesn't play defence? What makes you think this ?

He's already very good defensively, especially with his quick stick. He's only going to get better. With Luc patrolling his wing, he'll gain room & even more confidence...can't wait to watch that happen.

I don't know why, but I feel this season will have more scoring than we've seen in a while.

I wouldn't be surprised to see upwards of four players with 100+ points.

I also expect Penguins, Stars and Oilers to dominate the top ten in scoring... along with Tarasenko.

he is a question = more likely to happen, McDavid scores 100 points, or misses 20 games?
- richardson30

misses 20 games. he has been hurt 3 seasons in a row. he might be mario kind of injury prone lets just hope not

"Injury prone" is sort of a facile term to use.

Him being under 2 guys crashing into the boards at top speed would probably injure most players I'd say. It's not like it was some harmless event and he has weak bones or something

I guess if he gets a slapshot in the face and misses some time inside the next 2 seasons, this will just Furthur the injury prone assumption ?

well injury prone just means the player finds himself in bad situations which result in inuries. doesn't matter if it is a shot to the face or whatever. injury prone means you have bad luck with staying healthy.

My injury prone definition is a little different.
Like guys that experience something a couple times early in their career (back, knee, concussions etc) and it's always nagging them or easily inflamed again.

But by your definition, that's entirely plausible yeah

This

Whether it be nuge or Leon at 3c, I actually think that line with a combo of pouliot/puljujarvi/maroon could even be far better than just adequate

Imo nuge hasn't near peaked and can still be a great centermen. And is solid in his own end . He develops abit more and gets some early bounces and we could have 3 very dangerous lines

And the 4th line isn't terrible either

Of course There's question marks with an organization that's been so bad for 6 years. But our real question mark is defence, while our forward group top to bottom is far from "brutal". Inexperienced and possibly mentally fragile yes, but on paper it's playoff quality Imo

Agreed. I think over the years, our offence couldn't play to its potential, because it was covering for our horrible d... As our d improves, we should see big improvement in our offence as well... If we can manage to get an offensive d-man or two, that would be awesome.
