What if you believe they were unnecessary wars and your family members didn't need to die in them? Do you still need to respect the flag and anthem? Or are you unpatriotic unless you support the choice to go to war no matter what?

the wars I lost them in were necessary wars, not vietnam or current iraq war

Or u could say he's honoring those ppl who fought so that he could have this freedomLike I said,
He's doing this for an actual reason
Not bc he's playing on his cell phone or something

- jdfitz77

That's the biggest cop out on the planet.

Ask any veteran what the flag and anthem means to them. I have had to hold my best friend who served back from going after numerous people from talking through the anthem...

The problem is that subject matter is built upon lies. The use blacks are treated unfairly when it comes to police issues when the entire BLM was started when a black man tried taking the gun of a police officer after a struggle. The hands up don't shoot was a bunch of bull.

Like I said if he wants to talk about wage differences, education differences, or hiring practices I am all ears, but he's not.

I'd be more on board if he said something of substance as opposed to "black people are treated unfairly" after all the rioting and such. Give me something you want to change and I'll listen.

- Stripes77

Doesn't matter why he did, people have a problem that HE did it. If they have a problem with the fact that he can, and it's a form a freedom of speech, they honestly don't understand the family matter.

They have a right to make a rule against freedom of speech?
I don't see your thinking here sir

- jdfitz77

You mean HB can ban people for saying things, but the NFL can't?

This is your opinion. It's not fact. Some will argue Vietnam and Iraq II were necessary wars.

I lost 3 family members in recent wars

I don't think it's too much to ask to respect the flag and anthem

Then again the younger generation doesn't respect sh!t

- homiedclown

I don't see what he's doing as disrespectful

He's exercising the very freedoms that your family members are fighting for
I realize this is a touchy subject
And I get how u feel
But he's not out there saying "F the flag" or "F our vets"
He's standing up (sitting down in this case) to draw attn to something he's sees as a legit problem

What if he was sitting down for a reason u agreed with?
Say, better care for Vets when they come back from war
Or more funding for education/schools
Etc

That's where I think you're wrong.

If I did it because I thought beer prices were too high I would look like an bumhole.

But if I did it because those people fighting to protect that flag are treated like crap when they get back there would be more understanding. (yes that's a backward way to protest that) but like I said before until he personally loses something to him he is just an attention seeker.

He isn't Mohamed Ali. He is just a rich athlete who has no clue what he is talking about.

Sorry to hear that.

But the fact remains what he is doing is a form a freedom of speech. Generation has nothing to do with it, it stems with the understanding the bill of rights.

I see countless people at sporting events of all ages, texting, talking, yawning, getting up to get a beer. That is disrespectful, they clearly don't give a $hit, he at least has a purpose.

I don't really see a correlation here

Agreed. The right to peaceful protest is one of the things guaranteed in this country, and he exercised that right. Mike says it well when he points out that that freedom and others guaranteed under the constitution is what people fight for.

Doesn't matter if you look like a bumhole. It's a freedom of speech. You don't have to agree with it, but he is doing it with a set purpose.

I see/hear people saying for him to get out of the country, it's ridiculous. People complaining he has white parents. Who cares? He is making a stance, you don't have to be a certain color to take a stance. People posting pics of him next to veterns, and asking who is the real hero? Why would you think a football player is a hero to begin with?

So many people are mindless drones nowadays. Especially athletes, good for him for trying to speak his mind. It's asinine that people are jumping down his throat. He is doing what he thinks is right, he has the right to do it, and he is hurting absolutely no one by doing it.

I disagree with any athlete taking a stand for something they don't have a clue about.

The St Louis Rams players with their hands up p!ssed me off too.

CK sitting down during the anthem doesn't bother me as much as his so called "reasons" do.

Respecting the anthem and the flag honors the hundred of thousands of people who sacrificed everything for you to have a voice.

Just because it's a constitutional right doesn't mean you don't look like an bumhole for doing it.

He used that freedom to magnify an ideology they do not wish to be associated with. Since he chose to do in a way that reflected on them, they have every right to sever their relationship on that basis.

I have friends who served, family that is serving, are sports fans, know what he did, and don't care. They understand what freedom of speech.

It really appears people don't understand, vets included in some cases, it's not called freedom of speech until I don't agree with you.

I would argue that a black athlete protesting against a disproportionate amount police violence towards the black community is well within their rights, and that they may have more of a clue about that than many of the non-black commentators who feel the need to share their opinions...

Sweet baby James!

I've been on the phone with the nimrods over at Xbox for the last 2 hours. I called there at 1:19 and just now hung up, without a resolution. They have to call me back to give me a number when their system update finishes in an hour, at least.

Agreed. And there are many of course who don'tunderstand the difference between freedom of speech/freedom from consequence, but the consequence part really shouldn't kick in unless the actions of one individual expressing their freedom of speech is infringing upon the right of others - which in this case, it doesn't.
