buyout talk is over til next June anyway

forget about the money they make, Staal and Girardi could be a decent 3rd pair if they can stay healthy this year

- jimbro83

Being an optimist, I don't see any way they can play as poorly as they did last year. Maybe not a return to their glory days, but each should be reliable to fill whatever role is required of them, with the next generation stepping up to take some responsibility off their shoulders.
I truly feel that with the defensive tire-fires that were Boyle and Yandle gone, we will be a better team regardless of this pairs rebound. But, I fully expect there will be SOME rebound.

I really think Staal and Girardi were both hurt all year, both had offseason surgery last summer and with the two endless playoff runs of 2014 and 2015, they just had nothing last season.

Hopefully 5 months off from hockey is the tonic they needed, all we need is effective play from them, especially on the PK, because they will both be a big part of that

If Girardi stays healthy, absolutely. Staal looks like he gets slower every year. Neither one should see any PP time.

Use McDonagh, Skjei, McIlrath and either Klein or a forward on the points.

McI on the point on the PP scares me... i feel he's not mobile enough yet god forbid a puck goes passed on a blocked shot or errant pass

One of my good friend's sees Girardi all summer at their kids soccer camp or something like that. He gave me the report that he seems to be moving around much better this summer, and told him he is feeling good.

exactly my thought. we are not in cap trouble for the next 2 years in my estimation... we have about $6.5M - $7M to resign - Zib, Pirri, Fast, Lindberg, and McIlrath. I don't see anyone other than Zib getting more than around $1.5M... and if Klein is taken through expansion draft that's another $2.9M available.

getting rid of G or Staal for cap reasons I think is minor currently. in 2 years NAsh's contract also comes up so we should be good there as well.

this is good, because Vesey is gonna be a 7 million a year player pretty quickly

I heard they may try Buch at PP point. I would be ok with that. he is a good playmaker.

Yeah. That howitzer he has though. I would pair him with McDonagh to cover up any mistakes. It is a risk though.

Oh boy. Coming over from a league that plays almost no defense, might be asking a lot.

from what I understand he is VERY good around the net. that would be where I tried him first. or even behind the net or low slot.

if you pair him with McD or Skjei he may be ok...

I think the better option might be to just use 1 blueline player on the PP. have 2 slot guys and 2 net front players... we have the size to overpower teams downlow. we should use that to our advantage.

You guys are tempering expectations for Buch too much. I get not wanting to look like a homer, but Buch is like Ovechkin 2.0 here.

Hey guys I get to make my first trip to the big apple in a few weeks. Anyone want to give me the must see/must do list? Also, need to know where to go for the best pizza in town and the best "street meat" experience.

Clarification: By best "street meat" experience I don't mean which one will cause the most forceful impact in the toilet later.

Street meat is on corner of 53rd and 6th. Don't be fooled by the copy cats right next to them. They are Halal Guys. They are the original.

Go to the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village. It gets hot in there, so be sure to wear short shorts and a mesh tank top.

Why do I have the sinking suspicion this is probably similar to meeting someone for dinner at the Blue Oyster Bar?
