Gorton needs to get some praise this summer. Still not sure how he fit all the rfa's under the cap plus Vesey and Zibanejad & a 2nd for Brass. I hope NY applebees never gives him a bill.

If they were literally at exactly the cap ceiling, then they could spend over the ceiling by the amount of the players cap hit. Or if they are close, they could spend over the ceiling in the amount that the LTIR player puts them over.

ie:

Cap ceiling is $100
Dan Girardi makes $5
The NYR have $97 in payroll

Dan Girardi is horribly injured in an adult film stunt gone wrong and can't play.

He gets put on LTIR and the NYR are allowed to spend $102 in payroll while Girardi is on LTIR.
