And what is beyond being full blown retannered is thinking one player is going to make the Oilers a perennial contender. Is Hall great? YES. Did we lose the better individual player? YES. Did we become a better team with less holes to fill? YES. Is it a step towards a cup? (frank) YES. Now by no means do I think this makes us a pereniall contender nor a individual contender, but it makes the Oilers a more complete team and moves them closer to becoming a contender instead of just a joke. It was 2 steps backwards to take 3 steps forward. Yes the offense lost a huge part, but the team gained. We were gonna be lucky to get a impact player without grossly overpaying. Instead we overpaid and got a great player that is already somewhat proven as a one way guy with ++ potential as an overall guy. I'll take that and be content compared to what the past management has promised and not delivered.

-Reinhart hasn't played great. Not a fan of that trade but he could still turn out.
-Hall for Larsson was necessary. We needed a 1st pairing right shot. Now we have one. That was market price. Deal with it.
-Lucic is a unique power forward. Nobody in the league plays the way he does. Love him. Love this signing. Again he turned down more money to play here. 7 years was the cost of doing business. Again deal with it.

We are a far better team than when PC took over and a lot closer to being a contender. When the team PC has built is smashing people's faces in and winning hockey games, you'll be jumping ship faster than a Canucks/Seahawks fan.

Reinhart has not become what many expected when he was drafted, but a potential top 4 stay at home type is still possible. Over pay, yes. But as the common theme will show, Edmonton HAS TO OVERPAY. No one wants to go there. The idea of playing with McDavid isn't drawing players nor getting them to sign at a discount. This counts for Sekeras too. Gotta pay to get decent players. No one, not another teams gm, nor a free agent is doing us any favors. Nor should they.
