it's possible he is, but if barzal isn't ready then I'll be severely pissed off to see bailey line up opening night as our second line rw.
(if barzal is ready I expect him to be 3C and have the kid line reunited) - Isles_since_6
Hey 6, I love Barzal, but to put the come save us, play 3C and save us on his ass, that's asking a lot. Don't you think? |

I don't want to see barzal unless he plays his way onto the team. If he's able to outplay a number of the vets and makes it, fine, but if it's not a slam dunk decision then send him back.
hosang is one that I think has a shot to make the team but it's a looong shot. Last year they were going to give him a spot next to jt for camp and a couple preseason games I believe, but he tanked that when he slept in.
in a perfect world - snow adds a top 6 rw and none of the prospects get rushed.
if barzal makes it, I don't see a spot for him in the top six (and there shouldn't be for a rookie on a "contender") but the 3C spot is wide open if nelson or strome get bumped to wing. |

Fair points 6. Barzal could also win a spot on the wing?
Ho Sang can play in The Bridge and work on his game at a higher level than JRs as can Dal Cole, so Barzal is the front runner IMHO to make the team because he can't go to the AHL. ( also I think he is better than both JHS and MDC. )
That said again, there are 14 forwards signed to 1 way deals and that's including Stromer. I don think Strome is going to be as easy to sign as is written by the Islanders press faithful. The fact is if you listen to the GM, he is penciled in to take over the 2C position. If I'm his agent I am loving the fact that Frans is gone and Garf publicly stated that Strome is better suited for center ... |

Bailey should be nowhere near top 6 minutes anymore. He's proven time and time again that he can't play consistent enough or take his game to another level in order to warrant the playing time he's gone on 1st and 2nd line. As well as time on the PP. I'd honestly be happy if we just get rid of him at this point. Bury him in the minors cause nobody is gonna give up anything for him. |

Only way bailey goes down is if barzal and dal colle/hosang have great camps and force someone out.
Kulimen can stay as long as hes killing penalties and back checking on the third line

Gotta love Ho Sang's drive and ambition -
"I feel comfortable asking him (McDavid) questions," Ho-Sang told Luke Fox of Sporsnet. I found that when we played together, we do a lot of things similar. He thinks the game the way I do, but faster obviously. What he’s learned can be beneficial to me. I want to be as good as him or better." - Nolanders
In that article the photo of Ho sang had him wearing #26 not #66. I think that speaks volumes. |

I think Garth should have put a priority on moving Bailey this offseason. I still think a team like Arizona would have been willing to give up a 5th round pick for Bailey. Garth was probably looking for at least a 2nd round pick. If the Isles really want to send a message Bailey should be in the AHL this year. |

I agree.....i mean the fact that he's been playing for 8 years and still trying to find his game. Enough is enough with this guy. I dont think he stays on any other team under any other GM. From playmaking center, to bottom 6 wing, to top 6 wing.......next thing you know he's gonna put on the goalie pads. Its as if they made a handshake deal to play him and are sticking to it. He's not working.......period!!! |

I dont think they care that wang hired them. Its do the job or get replaced - Flexingtheshaft
That would be a refreahing approach to running a business. A wonder that Wang ever became a billionaire. |

Staple wrote an article from an interview/convo with Garth, after Frans signed with Detroit, that Strome & Nelson were the #2 & 3 centers. That was in July but it's on the record. |

Im just curious what the thought process is with Strome. He's drafted as a playmaking center, then is told to play wing. Had issues yet was kept on wing all season. Now he's a center again? |

I can't seem to find when camp starts.
But in the meantime, take the time to read this article about Ho-Sang because it's pretty god damn good. He's saying all the right things, next step will be to see him do them.

I read it over the weekend and commented on here that what stood out to me other than saying all the right things thus far, is he's wearing #26 not #66. Thats a sign of maturity if you ask me. |

Being sent back for being irresponsible coming from the one guy who supported him (snow) when he was being ripped before the draft likely woke him up. That's a good thing, but he has to prove he's not kabanov 2.0. You can see he has serious talent, hopefully he really has learned something from it and turns into a solid nhl player. |

Well according to Snow he was always better suited as a center. I guess that's why they've pretty much always played him on the wing. |
