Can't see him approving a trade with NTC. My story is legit. It points towards a Virtanen move. Not Virtanen will be moved. We'll see. Good discussions. - storm88
I can only see a Virtanen move if we're getting a Landeskog or something of that nature. The fanbase would literally riot if either Bo or Virtanen were traded and we don't win the trade by a mile. Benning really has very little wiggle room if he's going to do something that big to try and improve the team.
It's why I don't see any moves coming until TDL and possibly not even until the expansion draft. This is the year that Benning needs to show some results on the ice or he'll be fired at the end of the year, WD probably has about 20-25 games or he'll be fired. My guess is FA is getting pretty antsy since we've missed the playoffs 2 out of 3 years and isn't going to accept another lost year and top 10 pick.
If we make a move, it'll be depth in D for depth in forward and that depth will be in Utica to wait until injuries hit. I can't see a blockbuster on the horizon sadly, not with the team we have and the assets we have that we'd be willing to part with for what's available (and yes, I do admit there could be more available then what's been rumored, I just don't see it). |

What the what, your source points to JV being moved, not that he will be moved, can you please UN-confuse me... |

They made the playoffs once in the last two years (50-50), 3 of the last 5, 7 of the last 10, why does it have to be missed 2 of the last 3. Never cared for subjective stats.
And I have no allusions the make the playoffs this season. |

I use it because it's the start of Benning's term, his contract is up at the end of the season and he hasn't gotten an extention yet which is why I say he needs to show results this year or he'll be gone. WD has even less wiggle room than Benning does. |

I don't think Benning is going anywhere. Regardless of where they finish

Got it, but Tortorella was the first year they didn't make the playoffs and Gillis was fired in April...Benning is 1 for 2 in the playoffs.
I have mixed emotions on firing JB after 2 seasons, or 2 and a half, I'd give him more time to complete his plan, WD is a different story. |

I think Edler will be traded. I know he is the best , but he is 30 and has 3 years left. I think it will be Nichuskinand a 2nd for Edler.
Sedin Sedin Eriksson
Sven Bo Nichuskin
Jake Sutter Hansen
Etem Abols Dorsett
Burrows Grandlund
Hutton Tanev
Subban Gudbrandson
Sbisa Tryamkin
Pedan Larsen - VANTEL
Yes, get rid of Edler for nichiskin. We'll finally have another smooth skating skilled Russian in the lineup. A guy who can score dynamic goals... With size. |

Edler really isn't handcuffing anything nor is he hurting the team. Others maybe but just because he doesn't want to leave isn't a bid deal. He signed the contract he is playing. Big whoop. - thundachunk
Edler is on a great deal. Making 5 mill... Lots of teams would be interested in this guy, if only he would waive. Stupid MG should have traded him when he had the chance to Detroit. |

2LW is a glaring hole. I think it gets fixed before the start of the season. |

Some poster that guaranteed Edler was being traded last week...he had a "source" - CanuckDon
I will take a bit of the load off storm. He gave me a little insight.
The story he gave me was something that makes you say " well God Damn , that sure is peculiar". Once you heard the details of the story you would say ok what now?
If true it would come to life probably within 5 weeks.
That's all I will say. It is an interesting story, and I understand why he made the post. |

I hope it doesn't happen. JV is exactly the type of player we need. |

I'm getting close to thinking Nicush could be somewhat of a bust. I like what I see, but I don't see enough of it. Very intriguing player tho. |

I feel he is a player that would thrive in the right role. Mow is there a role here he could play, I believe there is. |

they declined in lineup yes but coaching staff is very strong now with the changes this off season. They'll have better utilization of getzlav and perry and of course defensively - SMBDragon
i wanna see Kesler back to Selke winning form... would be great if Edler got traded there for one of their up and coming young D men... |

"Saw Hutton tonight at UFC Fight Night, he looks like he’s gained some weight this off season, probably 10-15 lbs or so. Pretty excited to watch him play this season."
by user phantaztic
I hope this is true. Near the end of the season Hutton looked like he was wearing down a bit. I expect next year we will be more of a target on the forecheck much like teams go after Tanev.
Maybe we should have a poll on how many games in before Gudbranson tunes someone up for a cheap shot on Hutton? |

only if his attitude is right... Dank called him out last season. would like to see this guy get the vote of confidence from the leadership of the team. |

It would have been nice if we were able to trade Shinkaruk + to Dallas for Nichushkin...
yep, still an intriguing player.
I still don't understand the Shinkaruk trade beyond the injury woes last season and acquiring another centre in Granlund. (I know, let it go) |

I know there aren't a lot of basketball fans on here, but reading that reminds me of when the Grizzlies brought in Antoine Carr and almost immediately he made an impact in the paint. No easy path to the hoop. Too bad he was at the end of his career.
But yeah, hoping Gudbranson sets the tone early. |
