The last two just show that he and his teammates never have the (frank)ing puck when he's on the ice.
- BINGO!

So if block shots only show that your team never has the puck when the said D is on the ice and are usually a direct result of the D misplaying the puck forcing him to make up for his blunder by blocking a shot, how come Karlsson, Suter, Giordano, Burns, Josi and Hedman are all up there with Weber in BS?... and I thought all those guys were great defenders, turns out they're turnover machines who just keep having to clean up messes they create for themselves...

So if i understand, the Habs are preparing a big move with the Flames and this big move is related to Yakupov ! Is it a 3 way trade ?

Yakupov is VERY high on my list of players the Oilers need to keep around. I think this season will be a huge coming out party for Yakupov and even if/when the value is high at season's end I would not want to trade him. Given that, there's no way I'd trade him BEFORE this season when his value is about as low as it'll ever be. "buy low, sell high" equation simply doesn't fit for any Yakupov deal.

If they're going to trade him, NOW is the likely the best time. If he's available for trade after this season and they try to trade his RFA rights it means he probably had a sub-par season and you'll get even less. He still seems to be considered a "what-if" according to the media, in the regards of what if he just needs a change of scenery or a different coach and system. If he falls on his face this year? You'd be lucky to get a 4th rounder. You guys would probably just have to let him become a UFA for nothing.

That being said, the only caveat would be if he really does have his coming out party, the other reason they'd have for moving him is not being able to fit the raise he'd be due with Reinhart and Draisaitl also having to be re-signed.

Cue my personal troll to tell me why I'm wrong...

Lernout is (frank)ing garbage. That he was drafted at all is laughable.
- BINGO!

True but he is big and shoots right. Oilers passed on decent skilled players this draft to get size. They also were only able to get Larsson for Hall. A top 10 winger and Larsson is a career second string Dman. I have no faith in Chiarelli and the Oilers have given up better players for a mid draft pick (Perron was their top point leader when they traded him).

It's not that I don't think Nail is worth more. It is that I think Chiarelli is the worst GM in Oiler history.

... how about Yakupov and Fayne for a 2nd and a 3rd?

Guys, shot suppression is a stupid stat... why not just look at goal suppression, the one that matters?

Both Weber and Subban are 5-6 defensemen in that category because they both suck defensively. I'd say that trade was even from that perspective. Except, Weber still actually scores goals...

Weber consistently has played against the leagues top players and is a lifetime +48 player on a team that can't score goals......how does he suck defensively?

Let’s look at the comparable, Taylor Hall gets you Adam Larsson, a semi proven right shot D with upside.
Then for Yak you should be able to get Greg Pateryn an unproven right shot D with unknown potential.

Yakupov? Wasn't he some kind of hot shot in Junior about 10yrs ago?

Edmonton would be best served sticking Yak on McDavid's wing and trading him after McDavid helps pad his stats. Or at that point, just keep Yak if he's actually producing at the level he was expected to

The amount of hate Weber gets is ridiculous. The guy is still arguably the top all around defenseman in the entire league.

The only trade I see working is a three way involving both Edmonton and Calgary. Calgary's weakness is right-wing depth. Montreal wants a puck moving no.2 defencemen to compliment and hide Weber's deficiencies. The habs depth at right isn't great. If they give up someone they will have to replace him. Edmonton wants more defensive depth.

To montreal: Yakapov and T.J. Brodie
To Calgary : Brendan Gallagher
To Edmonton : Beaulieu and maybe a 4th

Montreal will have to offer Calgary Pacioretty to even have a chance of getting Brodie, and even then Calgary will probably laugh and decline

Yeah I know Bergevin isn't the brightest bulb but there's no way he trades Gallagher.

Heard that he wouldn't trade pk either.
TJ Brodie is an excellent defenceman with very similar salary cap.
Galchenyuk and Yakapov had good chemistry in the OHL

But this is the NHL and Yakupov hasn't done much while Galchenyuk is progressing nicely

Maybe Gally's success would rub off on him.

Tbc I am not proposing this trade. If there is any truth (not likely) to the bold move coming, this is the only way I could see it making sense.

I'd do Beaulieu, Andrighetto, a 2nd and the last year of DD's contract to Vancouver for Edler
