I know they are both Canadian (and Nova Scotian) but it is tough seeing Crosby playing on the same line and Marchand. - PghPens668771

Who are the shiny new toys? Most are established NHLers. Aside from maybe Murray, Larkin, Matthews, McDavid, and Eichel, the rest have at least 2 years experience, some more. I'm pretty sure it's just a team made up of really god damn good hockey players. - j.boyd919
Who are the really god damn good players on the team? With the exception of McDavid and Ekblad there isn't a single top notch elite player on the team, there are a lot of promising young players that should eventually be elite but those are the only 2 that would rank in the top 50 players in the league right now. I'll eat my words if I'm wrong but I'll be amazed if they're better than 4th-5th overall, if it wasn't for how weak Team USA and Czech Republic they would be a bottom feeder.

A little off topic but just heard HCMS on MM's show and I was kinda surprised that he actually talked a little about the goalie situation, not that it should be a surprise but he expects the situation to work itself out over time and ice time will be determined by performance on the ice. He really made it sound like it's an open competition and whoever play better through camp/preseason will be the #1 when the season starts. |

Drouin, Gaudreau, Larkin, MacKinnon, Monahan, Schiefiele, Trouba, Ghost, Parayko... those are all some god damn good hockey players. Couterier is a solid shutdown C.
I don't think 3rd is a stretch for them. My Canada vs. NA was just what I want to see, I'm not sure it actually happens. But it is possible. And that would be a fun game to watch. |

I love the comment about Sid being named the captain for Canada and how it will continue for some time. Nice little jab at Hawk/Toews fans Gunner. |

All good players but I wouldn't call then really god damn good, as I said I wouldn't consider any of them top 50 players in the league right now. I agree they'll be a lot of fun to watch and I don't think finish 3rd is impossible but I think they'll have to have a little luck to finish that high, I think at the end of the day their inexperience is going to lead to too many mistakes and those mistakes will cost them a game or 2 along the way.

So the Rags get Vesey and Pirri? That sucks that they get all that fire powers for free. Good thing their defense is so poor. |
|
|
|
I'd rank them
1. Canada
2. Team NA
3. Sweden
4. Russia
5. Team Europe
6. Finland
7. USA
8. Czech Republic - Feds91Stammer
Agree with this ... If not for goal and defense, USA would be DFL. However, I wouldn't be stunned if the Czechs beat us. This is a poor roster and the coach is worse. Hopefully, USA Hockey learns a valuable lesson when it gets their asses handed to them.

On Pouliot, they may have no option but to use him if injuries hit as they will.
Going to be interesting how Shultz goes in a potentially bigger role & if Pouliot is thrown to the wolves or protected? (My guess protected for a trade) |

If Pouliot is a disaster, why protect him to trade him as is value won't be high. The fact that Schultz was resigned should have sent a message to DP. This will be his last year in Pittsburgh.

I'd go with Gary Busey for his sheer craziness or Alec Baldwin because he's constantly an angry, whiny female dog just like torts and throws temper tantrums when things don't go his way |

A month ago I said the best possible scenario for the Pens would be to sign Vesey and Pirri which would solidify the left side of the top 6. Well guess what, the lame Rangers, the team I hate pretty much the most got our 2 guys and that sucks big time. On a lighter note the rookie tournament roster was released yesterday. I can't believe Sundvist is on that squad again. Happy to have my first look at Bengsston, Hall, the new college kid Dipauli, Guentzle and Blueger, and Sean Maguire. I think I am going to the game against Montreal and hopefully the game against the leafs who have Mathew, Nylander, Marner etc. It's beginning to look w lot like hockey, all through the town. |

Will you disappear like jkfst? The North American team is going to score a ton of goals. McDavid, Eichel, Mathews, Oreilly, Johnny hockey, Larkin, Trouba, Drouin, McKinnon. This team is stacked with talent. They should be fast, full of energy and relentless. Id take this roster over any other one with the exception of team canada |

I guess we'll see soon enough. As I said I'll gladly admit I'm wrong if they end up being 1 of the top 3 teams but ultimately I think inexperience/mistakes will end up costing them they'll be fun to watch but won't win.

I would have been happy to see either/both in a Pens sweater but neither will be in the top 6 in NY and at best Vesey may have eventually cracked the top 6 here so I'm not sure how signing them would have solidified the top 6.
