Far superior? Really? How so?
Edit: Pacioretty is just as good of a goal scorer (if not better as of today), is considered a very complete two-way players and heals from injuries faster than wolverine. - Scabeh
Let's see
1) Kessel Drafted 5th overall , Pacioretty #22
2) Kessel has had seasons of 80 and 82 points, Pacioretti topped out at 67 - noting Kessel played with lesser players while in Toronto,
3) Pacioretti's only claim to fame was this:

#2 We are talking about right now, today, who should be picked on team USA first, not who was better 3-4 years ago, in which case, it would be Kessel obviously.
#3 You're getting close to joining Bruiniak's league.
I mean... it probably was a dive... but I maintain that if he was hit in the ligament right in the back of your knee there, it WOULD hurt like a mofo even at that speed.

Seriously?
I mean this in the nicest possible way, but go frank yourself, markmark.

didn't Hossa get caught in a similar trap?....signed with the penquins, lose the cup to detroit....signs with detroit, loses cup to penquins....signs with chicago, finally wins cup - jimi james
(frank) that piece of poop Hossa and everyone that looks like him. Screwed the Leafs for years when he took out Berard's eye - without so much as a penalty or a slap on the wrist. If he got hit by a bus tomorrow I'd do a jig.

While is is extremely sad and unfortunate that Berard suffered that eye injury, it seems that in the years since, the legend of Berard has grown and grown.
The truth is, he was a wildly inconsistent player. Just prior to the injury, Quinn had called him a "work in progress."

#1 is completely irrelevant. Borderline foolish.
#2 We are talking about right now, today, who should be picked on team USA first, not who was better 3-4 years ago, in which case, it would be Kessel obviously.

Not irrelevant - Kessel went fifth because he has more talent - period. I have no love for Kessel - so your Montreal bias is not allowing you to make a rational assessment.
Kessel was one of the best players on the team that just won the cup, Pacioretty was one of the best players and the Captain of a dreadful team and he was part of the reason they were so poopty. Look at his plus minus for (frank) sake.
Was a weak attempt at humor - luckily he did not get hurt.
