The Bolland trade was a bad one for the Leafs, he wouldn't have done anything to bring this team to a different level and it cost something like 2-3 draft picks? Unacceptable. I don't care how he looked for 30 games and how "it could have worked" there was no way it was turning into a win for the Leafs.

They sure dodged a bullet by not agreeing on a new contract. Nice blog Mike.

Lucas, you're up brah.

a second-round 2013 pick (Carl Dahlström, selected 51st overall), a fourth-round 2013 pick previously acquired from the Anaheim Ducks (Fredrik Bergvik, selected 117th overall) and a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft (Frederik Olofsson, selected 98th overall).[9][10]

Canada Post is a F'ing gong show.
They are striking over concerns of declining mail volumes and increasing pension obligations. BOO HOO!

Every industry faces challenges as technology evolves. Suck it up and evolve like other industries do! And stop giving god damn full pensions for every F'ing MO that delivers a freaking letter for 10 years! Typical Canadian government

- .HOHO.

Should buy the smallest violin in the world for this disaster, and keep for the next time the teachers threaten to strike

I'd argue that lots and lots of industries use political means in order to NOT evolve. Evolving requires money and sacrifices. Canada Post is no different from...

- Canadian telecom (boohoo we charge the most because canada is so BIG!!)
- Alcohol (boohoo we don't want people smoking weed because what about BOOZE?!)
- Cigarettes (boohoo we don't want people vaping because we think it might be BAD FOR THEM!!)
- Automotive (boohoo we want to keep our jobs even though people in other countries churn out equal quality products for LESS!!)
- Cable Companies (boohoo we need to restrict internet access and curtail innovation in media because people aren't paying OUT THE ASS FOR CABLE ANYMORE (((

The way I see it, anybody who has a lobby or other representation with government probably does so because they're incapable of remaining viable in their respective markets without some kind of outside intervention.

Bergvik - might make it to the NHL as a backup goalie eventually - who cares? I agree with you. Bolland was not the same after the injury.

hindsight is always 20/20, but I think Leaf brass knew that Bolland's injury was possibly career threatening, hence they wouldn't commit long term to him afterwards

Throwing away Nylander just to get out from under 3 years remaining on a contract??? Not bloody likely the Leafs would EVER even consider that one!!!

I put my empties on the curb on garbage day - separate from the trash.

Fla just paid crouse to rid themselves of Borland And got back 2nd and 3rd.... But it'd cost the leafs nylander or kapenen.

That's like saying it would cost the Leafs a million dollars, or 2 Molson Dry empty cans.

Just because the team missed when using the draft pick doesn't make it any less of a bad trade.
