As bad a contract as it would have been for the leafs, it was a good deal for the Panthers. Panthers were nothing and needed to make a splash. So they over paid Bolland. As bad as it sounds in isolation this deal may have been the catalyst they needed to get on the map and be able to re-sign their own guys, as well as attract other UFA's to Florida. and look where they are today

If I remember correctly from the draft, Crouse is supposed to suck anyway. No idea how his development is going since though. And I certainly don't care enough to look it up. The Panthers have a pretty good team and good on them for losing that contract.

No. Biggest issue with Bolland is that unlike Horton - he still wants to play. He was sent to the minors last year for the standard $1 million cap relief but he probably will not go to Robidas Island willingly.
