you honestly are being really simplistic about this man. Glen Gulutzan coached in the ECHL and AHL...never played in the NHL either. You think that bc he had a season and a half of terrible NHl coaching experience that makes him a more suited NHL coach? Thats crazy talk. Bednar won championships as a coach in the ECHL and AHL. There is a big difference there.

You dont have to play in the NHL to be a good NHL coach. Seriously dude

- DDM-Coga

1.Never said he had to play in the NHL, plenty of coaches don't, I just brought it up because he has never experienced the rigours an NHL schedule before.

2. No I don't think it was the season and a half of head coaching experience that made GG a more suitable NHL coach, it would be the 2 or 3 seasons as an NHL assistant after his failed head coaching gig (make no mistake I know GG is just as unproven as Bednar at this point).

3. GG made it to the calder cup final and conference final as an AHL coach and as gm/coach of the Vegas expansion team made the playoffs/had decent runs in 7/8 so it's not like he didn't have a track record of winning wherever he went as well. I think the comparison between these two guys is fairly sound, at least for the early stages of their careers.

4. I said he could be a good hire, depends on how he adjusts to the NHL. How in the fuk is that in anyway a false equivalence?

5. If you want some salve for your throbbing anus would it matter if I said that I don't think Bednar can do any worse than big baby Roy?

also just busting your balls but No one gives a (frank) about Glen Gulutzan here so why the hell did you bring him up and start comparing him to the Avs new coach if you didnt want to get your poop rained on a bit.

I brought him up because I saw several similarities in their career path and I had just read the interviews GG gave where he said that he was not ready for the NHL yet and that being an NHL assistant the last few years has helped him quite a bit. That interview was the basis for my hypothesis that Bednar would be facing a steep learning curve in his first season in the NHL.

Do I think everyone will have the same experience as Gulutzan? No, but its (frank)ing August and if all you want is for people to join in on your circle jerk instead of having a legitimate discussion on the pros and cons of a particular hockey move then why not just stick to the bath houses?

Avs just hired a new exciting coach after getting poop on for years under Roy by the media, do you really think we would be in the mood of talking about pros and cons 3 hours after the hire thinking there will be chances he fails. (frank) that.

Its circle jerk time. Shouldnt you be more concerned about Johnny Hockey signing his new contract vs if the Avs new coach have adjustment issues?

Fair enough, I was more annoyed at the Alex Jones-esque leap that was made that made it seem like I only thought people who played in the NHL made good NHL coaches.

Not worried about Johnny, he'll probably sign for 7x7.25 or something like that. No indications that he is looking for a bridge deal so I'm just going to sit back and hope that BT somehow pulls off another Brodie-like extension (how in the (frank) did we get him for under 5 )

Take 69 man! Take 69!!

I'm excited to see what he and Pratt can do for this team! Playoff bound! Boom! 97points and slide in to the wild card spot! Jets wild and the blues can fight over the last spot.

Just because that''s the norm for rookies in Edmonton doesn't mean it will be in COL.

I certainly hope he will stay healthy. Dutch and Mac make me worry enough as it is. Rantanen is big enough at 6' 4" - 210ish, I think he will be the one doing most of the injuring unto others!

Bold predictions for this season:
1) Career years for dutch, mack and barrie.
2) defense pairs will end up being: ej/barrie beau/zads weircoch/Siemens with big as being a call up
3) goals against per game will be lower, goal for per game higher causing a 6 win increase from last year equaling 45 wins with 96 points good enough for the wild card spot. And we will won one playoff round!
4) compher/Greer will see NHL time
5) A's will go to dutchy/mack for 2017 season

Boom!
