A washed-up 30+ player who's chronically injured and a prospect whose stock has dropped low even after he was reached for a year ago for what will end up as 2 3rd rounders

MASSIVE!

- jmatchett383

Massive for whatever day it is in august.

Wow.
No mention of the first full time female coach being hired by the Yotes?

Why do you hate women?

Yeah I thought that was a little odd too considering it was trending all over social media yesterday. But I don't think I'd jump to the same conclusion you do.

Tanner did the same thing when discussing a baseball player being traded. He asked if I advocated the beating of a woman with a separate thought at the end of the sentence saying I must be a great guy. Just dripping with sarcasm. So he's bound to get that reaction back. Granted I don't care, because I am a great guy to hang out with.

I had an entire blog written about it but a trade is bigger news than a skating coach.

Tanner: I've never understood why you interrupt the flow of your blogs with random music videos, but today's version is particularly perplexing.

Janet Jackson, and then the Tragically Hip?

WTF?

- Atomic Wedgie

Shhh, we're not allowed to talk about them or we're just reveling in a tragedy.

I don't get the trade. Is florida trying to be like LA and giving up on players way too early?

Just clearing cap space so that they can get a player at a later date who can help them more this year.

I guess Jagr's not going to be around forever, but that's a steep price to pay just to get rid of salary. Especially if he'll be on IR.

Well I hope you saved it so you can post it tomorrow. Can I offer a catchy title,

"COYOTES MOST PROGRESSIVE FRANCHISE IN NHL HISTORY!"

You can then go on to discuss the Chayka hiring, adoption of analytics and of course the main piece, the hiring of the new skating coach.

Matt Moulson left and scored 30 in 3 straight. Jack Johnson. And a couple others that are eluding my recollection at the moment. I want to say one was a Russian, no not Voynov.

Wayne Simmonds is a curious case. Looking back I think they'd rather have kept him and Schenn instead of getting Richards.

The Kings won 2 Cups thanks to that Simmonds and Schenn trade. I think they'd do it all again.

so what team will be the new dumping ground now that Arizona is capped out so to speak?

Tanner why did so many teams pass up chykrun when they had the chance to draft him do you think?

I think a certain amount of group-think psychology plays a part in guys falling in a draft (what do they know that I don't?) ....combine that with most teams already having their guys lined up and not expecting / accounting for that guy being there, and it's fairly easy to see how guys go into free fall.

Then , there is just Chychrun not having the greatest year leading up to the draft, who knows what gets said at the interviews - I mean there's a number of reasons it could happen.

Flyers don't want none of your Crouse!

He is more of a prototypical Ranger, like Hugh Jessiman.

Alexei Zhitnik is the name that came to mind for me, but that was a long time ago. Still, wish the Kings kept him.

As far as Johnson, that brought in Jeff Carter. I'd make that trade again in a heartbeat.

I stopped at "Jimmy Vesey is a fringe NHLer".

I feel really bad for anyone who read this start to finish.

I was talking about more recently on the Russian. Technically Zhitnik was Soviet, but was born in Ukraine. And one of my favorite players growing up.

Ok, sure Johnson got you Carter.

But Richards wasn't better than Simmonds, let alone Schenn. Maybe just because LA needed a center? Were there picks involved too? I can't remember.

At the time of the trade, Richards was a 60 point 2 way center, and top penalty killer, and top 10 Selke vote getter. Simmonds was just establishing himself, and Schenn played 8 NHL games that season.

Richards was traded with Rob Bordson, whoever the (frank) that is, for Schenn, Simmonds and a second that Philly flipped to Dallas who used it to get Devin Shore. And at the time Richards was definitely the best player between him, Schenn, and Simmonds, but again I'm saying at that time. If trading potential for current talent wins you a cup, I think most teams make the deal.

Maybe the recent Russian you're thinking of was Zykov? He was traded with a 5th for Versteeg. That one stings, especially since Versteeg wasn't really utilized correctly in his short time here, IMO at least.
