Whos the G?
- Ur Not Me

My choice (which is unlikely) is that they send Berube to the ahl and risk waivers, keep Halak and Greiss to make sure that Greiss doesn’t come back down to his career averages after smashing his previous bests. Greiss/Berube still makes me really nervous and is the most likely move if we trade Halak for the cap space.

Teams do not typically trade within their division. Especially for a name like Larsson. The Devils GM would get slaughtered by the teams fans and the media.

ahhhh the old expansion draft argument. As if teams dont have paid people to figure out options. How about this. How about you dont sign PA. You pull the trigger on the Hamonic for Hall deal, and then you trade 2 prospects and picks to the Devils for Larsson.
- kindlyrick

there's no chance jersey would have traded Larsson for a couple of prospects/picks to a divisional opponent. no chance.

I think that is the biggest queston mark on the success of this season. Which goalie they go with. I do not think a goalie by committee will work.

I think it's a reach to expect that Berube is going to be our starter within the next 2 years anyway. You can find a goalie in free agency if you need one, still a few teams looking to move one this year.

First of all, Boychuk wasn't in the division, and he was a 30 year old pending UFA defenseman where Boston needed to dump salary. There's no way you can compare that to trading Larsson, who's a 23 year old signed to a very team friendly deal for the next 5 years.

How do you know this? I dont believe any trade cant happen for the right price, and after 10 years of drafting surely the isles have enough to offer.

besides Chimera, to me team got slower when the rest of the NHL is about speed, plus factor in that the team doesnt know who will man the net....

And 3 months ago, you woulda said, theres no way Edmonton is trading Taylor Hall for the "other" Larsson.

Bottom line, Seth Jones was drafted and everyone was all over him......what do ya know, HE GOT TRADED for a forward no less.

What's your point? All I'm saying is that there's no way you can compare Boston trading Boychuk to the Islanders with the Devils potentially trading Larsson to a divisional opponent.

Jones was traded because Nashville needed a #1 center and had so many top pairing defensemen they could afford to move him. Hall was traded for Larsson in a milbury type move that is going to be brought up forever if he doesn't turn into a top pairing d.

Teams very seldom trade defensemen that are worth anything. If you think Snow was trading Ryan Strome and getting someone comparable to Hamonic then you're lying to yourself.

As far as NJ making the playoffs, they have now lost their best defenseman, who was also their top shot-suppressing defenseman. I'm not all that confident that they have the talent up front, even with Hall, to be any kind of real threat to make the playoffs.

There are other wingers out there than Taylor Hall that can be acquired at a better price.

Ryan Johanson traded for Seth Jones. It can happen.

I think the same or slower, yes, at least when KO went to fast, he tripped over the blue line to slow him down....

but a 1st line of Ladd-JT-PA will get abused by other teams speed,

Jones for Johansen is exactly the trade that everyone says doesnt happen.

Hall could easily get 70-80 with JT big difference
- Ur Not Me

Yeah and we could easily allow a lot more goals without Hamonic. That argument works both ways.

Yeah, you're just solidifying my point. On the rare occasion that a talented young player does get traded, it's for an immensely talented player. We have one of those. So let's trade Hamonic for Hall, then maybe we can trade Tavares for a stud defenseman. Problem solved, apparently.

Maybe he will, maybe he won't. I love Pulock and truly believe he's going to be a great defenseman, but I don't like to make major decisions based off of unknowns.
