Dude…I enjoy most of your posts but this is a stupid line of reasoning.

I'll clarify this:

saying he wouldn't have traded for them when he did trade for them is enough to make me wonder what you're smoking.

LEts be honest if Chicago and Boston had the cap space do you actually think Snow would have traded foe them??

do you think the asking price for either would have been so reasonable without the cap issues? Do you think either team would have wanted to move leddy or boychuk without those cap issues?

This is such a pointless waste of time. Making trades without regard to what you're giving up was milburys process, how well did that work? The Canucks have been looking for a top 6 wing for two months now with no trades, why can't they just get it done?

It takes two to make a trade.

New owners have been pretty clear that there are no restrictions on spending, I highly doubt Hamonic was kept solely for the fact that he's cheap and plays a lot of minutes. He's a very good defenseman that can play in all 3 situations, he has a ton of value.

Ok. This horse is on life support. Think everyone here agrees Travis is a good/very good, solid defenseman who plays alot of minutes. His numbers & stats are not all that impressive however. Fact: Hickey produces more with less minutes and matches/beats Travis in other important stats. Look it up.

Edit: I wanted to add, in support of Travis that what he brings "to the table" with his game are the intangible things that cannot be measured or recorded. He's also a great person, by all accounts. That said, it still doesnt tip the scales enough to defend passing on a player of Hall's ability.

Taylor Hall is an elite winger(no one disputes) who was stuck on an under performing team. Given our teams' current position, the trade would have improved our team more than the loss of Travis. Every media outlet would have given Garth yhe thumbs up for finally giving JT the elite partner, in his prime that every successful team seems to have/require. The salary friendly argument is weak. The most competitive teams operate at theupper limits of the cap for a reason- you have to go all in to be successful. Garth, for his entire time as a GM has had to be frugal and I think its ingrained in his approach to making decisions. In this case, it was the wrong decision.

Yup, benning has been saying that for two months, after signing Loui. He can't find a trade either, it's not easy to make them unless the team you're dealing with wants something you're willing to part with.

Because it IS a tough decision. Intangibles account for alot.
All things considered, tho, I am still wishing Garth made the trade, 100 out of 100 times.
