Canada took Muzzin and Bowmeister over Letang and Subban who might both be top 5 d men in the league (top 10 for sure)... the Hall snub should surprise no one.... |

He went out and got Bennett who could be a steal if healthy. We have young guys who can play, why spend money and get tied into horrible contracts especially with the expansion coming. It is going to expose a lot of teams and we can benefit from that.
Radulov the same guy that was a cancer with Nashville with character issues. What did he do to deserve a 2 year contract. - K-dizzle
Bennett is more likely to be on IR within the first 10 games of the regular season then to be productive, but hopefully not.
Radulov doesn't nessicarily deserve two years but if you are trying to land the guy (which Ray was) then you can afford to go a little further. But He's just an example and I'm not advocating for him personally. I'm advocating for trying to accelerate the rebuild by using the cap space and signing players. They can't all be the wrong Free Agents. At a certain point it looks more like having your hands tied then being prudent. |

The Devils were reportedly interested in Radulov. Maybe they didn't offer enough, or maybe he just liked Montreal better.
This team is still in the early stages of the rebuilding process. Shero has taken some steps to accelerate the process through some trades, but the defense is a mess and there are a lot of question marks at forward. This isn't the right time to go splurge on free agents. |

Not really. A rebuild would mean trading your best players not going and getting other very good players like Hall. Shero isn't gonna trade Schneider, so there won't be a rebuild and I don't think we necessary have to.
Bringing in Teravainen, 21 years old and Crouse 19, who could of possibly made the team, he almost made FLA last year would of helped this team. Teravainen and Crouse are upgrades over Boucher and Blandisi.
And if they were rebuilding, why would they get a 2nd in 2018 and not sooner for taking Savard. I believe Shero is not in the mindset of rebuilding. |

Call it what you want. Retool, rebuild, whatever. The team still needs a lot of work. A number one center, a top-6 RW, and a couple top 2 defensemen would probably do the trick. |

I don't get the personal grudges fans hold with players. Like we have no real idea what goes on most cases but if a player does something that means they will always be like that. Didn't Jagr have the same rep as Radulov? No buddy cares what Jagr did in his twenties or early thirties because he is one hell of a role model now and has obviously learned from many different experiences. |

Patience. We are on the right path and it would be much longer. If we can keep adding a Star player each off season then it won't be lon. |

I just feel that adding a guys like Hudler (as an example) is similar to Stemniak. He could be fairly good, come cheap and could be a good trade chip. We got some nice picks for Lee.
We traded Larsson and could have gone harder a one of the top D free agents. People give the Oiler GM crap over that trade but he did immediately sign Lucic to offset the loss of Hall. And yes that contract might be fly in a couple years but you can also try to move him while his value is still up after a couple seasons. The Rangers probably will move Nash who's age and salary are fairly negative.
This is our second off season without Lou and without spending. We have one of the lowest payrolls in the league. We are acting like a small market team. I've seen zero proof that ownership is willing to spend. We added a quality player but we also list a quality player. There seems to be little urgency here. Ray has been a really good GM but I think ownership is restricting hm from doing more.
That said Steve Santini is going to be a monster! |

Hall, Henrique, Palmieri, Zajac, and Cammy are all in our top6. We have Zacha, Boucher, DSP, Bennent, and Blandisi all competing for that last spot. I would rather give a young guy a shot at playing in the top 6 and let the rest of them fill out the bottom 6 for this coming year then sign anybody who was available. Youth and developing your own players is vital to success in this league. Lou signed how many guys similar to Stempniak/Hudler who didn't exactly pan out, Rolston/Zubs come to mind.Stempniak fit last year but he's another year older now and isn't an elite player eventually a guy like that play will just drop off. |
