All this optimism is bound to get a good rant going. Cue Bloated and Lefty!

Waiting for mediocrity is for communists and leaf fans. We canuck fans need to start holding our team to a higher standard.

I agree with you on this frequently. I just have a good feeling this year. Not expecting anything really but I see playoffs as a possibility but an early exit if it happens. I'm just excited to see what happens with the unknowns and right now we have a lot of them.

My list of players I'm excited about:
Horvat
Tryamkin
Hutton
JV
Baertschi
Gudbranson
Larsen
Rodin

I don't expect big years from any of them outside of Horvat because this year is his final in ELC. It could be the year that decides his future. They could be the future of the team and even though losing can be a drag, I feel like it's a good time to try and be apart of the journey with finding a new core.

How excited are you? Heart-racing excitement or boner-excitement?

The Canucks haven't ever won a Cup but they've been a much better franchise than a lot of teams over the past 25 years!

Reports that Hudler signed in Dallas.

Purple Grimace says he stands by his statement that there is a deal on the table for Edler

If reports Hudler signed 1 year 2 mil with Dallas it makes sense why Benning didn't sign him.

I think there is something to the Edler rumour. I thought Benning would have signed Hudler Monday if there was truth to the Rumor. I think Benning is aiming higher.

Why does it make sense ?
Maybe Hudler looked at Dallas and liked the opportunity there better ?

If reports were true a few days ago Hudler doesn't care about the fit. He cares about the money. Otherwise he would have signed with Chicago.

You made it seem like 1 year/ 2 million for Hudler was why Benning would shy away

I think Hudler was plan B for Canucks. I think there is a bigger move on the way. Just a hunch.

Oh ok I see what your saying ...I think there will be no deal til after the season starts if there is one ...wait and see what some of the unknowns can do

I think the term and cap hit on Hudler is a bargain though

Good deal.

I think Benning is looking for a younger bigger move and not a stop gap

Dallas is deeper and would beat Chicago in a 7 game series.

Shaw is gone
Teravainen is gone

& they signed Jordan Tootoo

I dunno ...I think the Canucks should be patient and give this more time ...they aren't in a spot to give up peices to get a young player who can make an impact ...unless it's another Sven type deal

If the owner and GM want to take a run at things while they still have the Sedins , who are we to tell them different.

BTW I think it makes perfect sense. They already have three new prospects close to NHL ready . You can't have 20 rookies playing.you have Hutton Tryamkin Sbisa Juolevi that all play left side.

I am sure when Devils traded Larsen they didn't sit and wonder about what ifs.

Juoleviwill probably be ready 2017 . Maybe they just say we will take that impact player and deal with the hole next year.

If Edler is moved where is the offence going to come from the defencemen?

If Benning and co want to win with the sedins at some point sure but if they think going for it during this current contact with the twins is a good idea ? If I'm a Canucks fan I'd be a little worried about that thought ....be patient and keep adding pieces for the future

I am a Canuck fan and I am not the slightest bit worried . I think Benning and Co have done a bang up job.
