Only thru half of the youtube clip......One penalty, a scuffle and a couple shots on goal

Couple things I noticed were, a) played lots of shifts, and not sheltered ones. Playoff hockey, and he was trusted in pretty high pressure situations. and b) even for playoffs, Florida has quite a few empty seats, especially behind the nets.

Thanks for the clip, awesome to see him in action with out the conjecture of " He sux cuz our team didn't trade for him"

Ya I was surprised to see how active his stick is, although physical he seemed to go for the poke check more often than the hit when defending. Also seemed very willing to shoot, although didn't often get it through.

I also see why he gets the "good skater for a big man" label as he definitely moves very well while in stride. His starts and stops are less smooth but covers a lot of space. I think Tryamkin will be able to learn a lot from a guy that size.

Very excited for the changes to our D this year. Should be a pretty physical and mobile group. Offense remains the big question mark on the back end.

Afternoon all, and a big thank-you to Carol for ending yesterdays fat mama fest...

As there hasn't been much turn over in the roster, we can only hope that the team goes virtually injury free, that being said I still have a hard time seeing this group making a impact offensively in our division.

BTW I wonder if it was Bo's mom who predicted he would get 30+ goals this year...

- Makita

This is the key of course with this group. But if Benning does add this 'impact winger' he wants it could very well round out the top 9 of forwards. With Eriksson/Sedins and Hansen/Sutter/?…

JV/Bo and Sven plus Burrows/Granlund/Dorsett on the 4th line?. I'm sure Rodin will fit somewhere maybe if JV gets his stint in Utica. Tough to tell at this point where we need JV's truculence in the lineup but he might be suited for a time in Utica.

But I think if healthy we can see goal production over 200 close to 220.

Hank passes the torch to Bo this year. Takes him under his wing .

I used to think this was corny but players and all can benefit from mentors and those with experience. Bo commented on Hank pulling him aside last season and giving him a little pep talk during a scoring slump. Sounded like it was appreciated and it helped.

Yeah . I think now three years in Bo will adapt , less pressure. He is a good kid with good ethics. Hank feel he needs to do it by himself.

Most all players who didn't produce last year are gone. It doesn't mean their replacements will be the answer , but it is recognition of a problem and trying to find a solution.

If 10 players were bad last year and you find 3-4 long term replacements , thn next year you only have to fix 6-7. It is heading in the right direction.

I think you're evaluation is spot on. I forgot about Tryamkin. I think just our defense alone has changed so much, that it might just be spectacular (or a spectacular fail).

On most other boards, one of the main Canuck critiques is we never rebuilt........but if you look objectively, since the tor----woops "he who shall not be named" coaching year, this is a very different team. A younger one, with some future prospects to look forward too.

This coming season is one to look forward too. Either we will be better (possible playoff spot) or we suck and get a good pick. win/win

I have said a few times we did a rebuild and no one knew it happened. We picked up 3x top ten draft picks , we filled in the age. Gap 22-28 , we changed our D and Goalies since Coach ( he who not be mentioned ) T left. It doesn't mean everything is fixed , but only 5 players still remain . It could be an epic fail or it could be an epic step forward. We need to wait to see.

Thanks man.....I think a lot of people are put off by it because they think it denotes where I am financially, but I use welfare as a euphemism for "lame". As you can see in my pic, my thumbs up is a normal hand, ergo only my head transforms to a werewolf. So as a werewolf.....its pretty welfare, like the computer I'm using....pretty welfare.....like the Oilers (and Canucks) last year.....you get the idea

Nope. The judging has occurred and the upcoming season doesn't matter. That's why we track corsi, so that we know who the whinners and losers are. The season is just a challeng to improve corsi.
That said I think that we will have a much better corsi this year, ipso, factso, we win.

I remember seeing Baertschi when he first played for the Flames. I was a little jealous, wondering why cant Canucks get a player like him with some slick skills. Then I don't know what happened to him but I was glad when we made the trade. I am very curious this year to see what he does. He said he now feels like he belongs here.

I agree with you on this frequently. I just have a good feeling this year. Not expecting anything really but I see playoffs as a possibility but an early exit if it happens. I'm just excited to see what happens with the unknowns and right now we have a lot of them.

My list of players I'm excited about:
Horvat
Tryamkin
Hutton
JV
Baertschi
Gudbranson
Larsen
Rodin

I don't expect big years from any of them outside of Horvat because this year is his final in ELC. It could be the year that decides his future. They could be the future of the team and even though losing can be a drag, I feel like it's a good time to try and be apart of the journey with finding a new core.

Agree with your list. The difference this time around if we make the playoffs and go out round one is the team is on the way up not like round one defeats when we were on the way down.
