With Edmonton's need for help on defense, JB must have hoped/expected they would pass on Puljujarvi and get the dman they needed.

just like fans of other clubs, gm's of other clubs think they know what their counterparts should be doing to build their team and be competitive.

I still think Edmonton royally screwed up their winger situation

Where I respect Bloated's opinion, (a healthy dose of reality keeps you grounded), and yes most of my posts are pro Canucks; the polar opposite opinion to me makes no sense.

Why would I want to be a fan if everything sux all the time....(unless I was one of those people who liked to watch figure skating for that one moment when a girl takes a fall so I could go "ha ha...you trained for 4 years and you blew it.....ha ha look at her cry as shes trying to finish her routine".

I have pulled for this team since the 80's......and as much as people want to down play things down, this team, in the time that they have been in the league, have accomplished a (frank) ton more then a lot of its contemporaries......yes a presidents trophy isn't a stanley cup, but out of the 29/30/31 teams, only one team gets it....and its awarded for the team that has the most wins/points.....out of playing every team...not just a series with one team. We have lost in the finals 3 times.....yes we didn't win. We were brides maids....but 90% of the teams that mock the Canucks have never been to the damn party.

In '94 when we traded for Courtnall, Ronning and Momesso....I thought who the (frank) are these nobodies.....but with the magic of the russian rocket, and being lead by Trevor, that rag tag team gave us one of the most memorable play offs of all time.....

I am a fan, and I have hope......If I didn't I wouldn't watch.

I don't think I'm over-pessimistic. I have some strong views on management and decisions they have made but I've complained very little about the actual players outside of Miller. They do the best they can with the skill set they have. I've never doubted their effort.

I've said this before, I'll always support the crest but I may not support the regime that is running my team. Owners and management teams and players come and go. The crest remains. I'm passionate about the crest.

Are you talking Jake Virtanen and Boeser? Or Demko? I think JV is the only one we can measure with NHL experience. The rest are a question mark.

Is Juolevi this years success? I don't even think that was JB's intended target at all. I expect the management team had their eyes on a bigger prize...

blah blah blah...

the best part of that pick is Burkie, wondering what the hell just happened..

There's nothing wrong with stating your opinion about the current situation, if you think it sucks then say so, if you think it's headed in the right direction then say so….that's what the board is for.

yep.

Hall or Puljujarvi, who would you rather have on wing today? But I guess the flip-side of that is any dman drafted wasn't going to be able to meaningfully contribute now.

Maybe it all works out for the Oilers down the road, maybe it was the best thing for the Canucks to get that dman drafted to be ready in a few years?

I respect that. And differing opinions and being passionate are great for good debates.

Not to be negative but I think we will be in a good drafting position again this year.

Edit: As far as Playoffs go I do believe that any team can catch lightning in a bottle. Hot goalie. Scoring touch. Players that believe.

Totally agree.....I might have got long winded in my post, just comes from my personal passion. We as Canuck fans are the teams biggest critiques most of the time.....we shoot ourselves in the foot by pooping on our own players.....yes most deserve it......but if we start bull pooping about our crap, maybe we can trade it for 2nd's like other teams with their garbage.

That's all I've been saying... just with a bit more whine.

After the Torts fiasco the canucks were perfectly poised to blow it up and go tank. We would have been entering our 3rd year of a 4 to 5 year tank. Instead they signed Miller and decided to take another shot at the cup while the Sedins are under their current contract.

I couldn't even get that sentence out without laughing.

I find it funny that some fans won't except a tank but will put their entire faith in "if you get to the playoffs - who knows what will happen" strategy. I have a hard time understanding it.

- bloatedmosquito

I'm not advocating that we should be wishing to scrape into the playoffs and hope to win the cup, no one is, but dude it can totally happen - it just did!!

Do you really have hard time understanding how Pitts just won the cup? I do....Cus back in December who would've called it? I'm still blown away at how they won - Bonino, Kessel and Haglin??? their second line?? look at the destruction those guys caused - which disproves the theory of line mates needing time to gel argument. The rookies that played WAY over their potential, a D-core made up of Daley, Cole, Lovejoy, Schultz, Dumoulin and Letang - there's no way anybody would look at that Defense and honestly say "Yeah we're going win the cup with these guys." NO FU*KING WAY. Ever hear of Matt Murray?? nobody did!!! not even Matt Murray had!! So the "we need a goalie with playoff experienced goalie" theory gets thrown out the window too. There's no doubt that Sid, Gino, Hornqvist, 35yr old Kunitz and Letang are a great core but no f&*king way did anyone see them winning the cup this year. The core was surrounded by castaways. And you wanna take a look at their draftees the last 10 years.....cus the only players of any significance were Maata & Rust - Bennett only played one game!

Everybody's going on and on about what it takes to win a cup and be successful but the Pens just proved that we all don't know what the F*& we're talking about. The recipe didn't make a lick of sense.

Playoffs are a different beast and strange things can happen that time of year and this isn't the first time - Kings barely made it into the playoffs in 2011.

this rant isn't directed at you bud - its more of a general statement/observation
