To me, It's his overall skillset, the guy has the size, the speed, he can switch gears, smooth skating, a great shot... he has it all.... which makes his upside more interesting than a guy like Hoffman, who, in my opinion, won't improve much on what we are seeing today.

Hoffman is 26 years old and entering his prime years, he's a good player but Galchenyuk is already better than him at 22.

- Scabeh

Well Hoffman is just as good or better of a skater and shooter while being better defensively. Size is fairly irrelevant. You are correct that based on age Hoffman likely has less productive years remaining but my point is I feel Hoffman is better right now.

This is more relevant, given its based on last season and how both players are in the present. Nice strawman argument though, that was pretty awful.

I am not talking about career projection or regression, I am just showing you the charts for both players at the same age
- nvrsoft

You want me to show you one with both of them at age 26? Because Hoffman wins that one for sure...

If that's the case though, you don't need a whole lot of data to come to the conclusion that they had very similar years no?
- Scabeh

Maybe if you just want to look at points.

You're right, someone can do both. And you're right, that would be the best way to analyse a player.

But someone giving me a chart without any added information to justify his opinion... it's hard for me to conclude to anything else than "he has his charts and that's it".

And hey, watching hockey is not my job, it's something I like and so is talking about it.

- Scabeh

Charts showing all the Sens as good players and to top it off they have a chart showing they have the best D to ever play...strange it just doesn't turn into wins.

You may underestimate Galchenyuk's shot, he's been using it alot more frequently in the second half of the season and it's been paying off.

But fair enough, we disagree on who's better right now I guess.

Hoffman vs Galchenyuk @ 22 years old :

Hoffman was a late bloomer.....completely irrelevant in this conversation.

by that token we should compare a 22 year old lars eller to a 22 year old martin st. Louis...............bet you eller had better numbers at that age.

No? Explain. That chart had zero relevance to a conversation about who is a better hockey player today. Again, you're awful. Delete your account.

I'm a huge Karlsson fan, then again I don't really watch all them charts so I can't say.

Sens have good players, others I like a whole lot less but clearly, as a team, there are improvements to be made.

Why are you all comparing Galchenyuk and Hoffman instead of, I dunno, dozens of other players that make way more sense as comparables?

do you have insider information to bruiniak? i just want his autograph is all

a bulet is something only a true hockey fan knows so it's not really surprising you don't know what it is

Stupid arguments is what you say everyday, anyday..

So if I use your argument, Buffalo should trade Eichel 1v1 vs Jagr no problem, he is way better.

Karlsson is the best defenseman in the NHL and it's not close.

The Senators are a poopty hockey team striving to sneak into the playoffs every year because their owner is cheap as hell.

It started off as a Stone > Hoffman > Galchenyuk comment.

What's wrong with talking about it? Everyone seems to be quite jolly about the whole thing.

Still no Taylor Hall on team Canada. He's easily a top 5 winger in the league
- oilers2k14

He's the Rodney Dangerfield of the NHL.
