Rel indicates on ice impacts versus the player's teams average.
CF%: Corsi For Percentage; The percentage of all shots that are taken by a team (CF/(CF + CA))
SCF%: Scoring Chances For Percentage; The percentage of all Scoring Chances that are taken by a team (SCF/(SCF + SCA))
xGF%: Expected Goals For Percentage; The percentage of all expected goals that are scored by a team (xGF/(xGF + xGA)) - Feds91Stammer

Doughty had a +21 goal differential, Karlsson had a +15 goal differential while on the ice.
Doughty pretty much lets goals in at a similar rate, while playing for the better team, with a better goalie. - j.boyd919
Doughty was a +24 last year... Karlsson was a -2 |

Why are you all comparing Galchenyuk and Hoffman instead of, I dunno, dozens of other players that make way more sense as comparables?
- BINGO!
It started off as a Stone > Hoffman > Galchenyuk comment.
What's wrong with talking about it? Everyone seems to be quite jolly about the whole thing. - Scabeh
Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I agree with bingo that there's better comparables with respect to age and position (despite the hero charts both listing their "designated roles" as "2nd line scoring wingers"). Although it may be fun, I think it's a bit silly to be generally saying "this winger" > "this center"... that said....
Galchenyuk > Zibanejad > Pageau > DD
Pacioretty > Hoffman
Stone > Gallagher
this is fun |

At the end of the 2009–10 season, Jeff Schultz led the NHL in the plus-minus statistical category with a +50 rating.
Now that's a player!

He posted better GF/60 than Karlsson (2.75ish Vs. 2.65ish) and FAR better GA/60 (1.8ish Vs. 2.7ish) and improved on his team's numbers substantially more than either Karlsson or Doughty did. All the while he produced around 50 points, dominates possession-wise, and has been a key cog in a very successful team of late. He even beat Doughty in those aforementioned numbers (2.1 GF/60 and 1.8 GA/60). - MaximumBone
Karlsson had 70 more blocked shots, 51 more takeaways, and his Rel impact of CA and CF as well as scoring chances for and against was significantly higher than Doughty's. |

I prefer total goal differential, as opposed to the flawed stat that is +/- |

If I had to bet, there are little to no chance he trades McCarron in a trade where the best piece coming back is Wideman.
Wideman is not the kind of player we need at all, the Habs need a top 6 scorer and wouldn't trade one of their best 4 prospects for an aging defenseman who wouldn't be an upgrade on anyone in our top 4 already.
This, of course, being my opinion on the matter. - Scabeh

For what it's worth, I think he's going to be a good player for the Oilers.
The price was overwhelmingly steep but he's going to help the team. |

yes cause ice time is indicative of performance all the time. Quick played 58-60 minutes a game so i guess he is twice as good as doughty. and maybe when you realize there are 12 forwards and only 6 defensemen it makes more sense that defenseman play more minutes, but hey i guess some schools just dont teach math. and some aren't born with logic |
