not sure why you were being rude in your earlier comment. I was just engaging in conversation without any kind of trolling. - kaptaan
Yeah, we get enough of that from Spatso tbh... |

To replace Rich Clune, or replace Curtis Glencross. One of the two. |

And I guarantee that if the Leafs bought the legacy of another team, there'd be uproar about it, mainly among your board.
The other difference is that the Arenas, St. Pats and Maple Leafs are the same franchise, whereas the millionaires folded, and much later on a new franchise took off in Vancouver. - lumlums
didn't know that. I thought the Leafs franchise came about after the war (II) and didn't have a relationship to any earlier team. Kind of like how the Maroons were different to the Canadiens. |

Next time, try reading the blog first.
" While this invite could simply be Hunter and Lamoriello doing a favor for a veteran they know, Prust might have a chance at earning a contract if he can prove that he can keep up with the pace in the NHL and provide protection for the plethora of young skill players expected to make the Toronto lineup this season." |

That's what Prust does. That's all he is capable of, and really he can't even do that anymore. |

Hey now, he scored 7 points in 9 AHL games. He's obviously there to replace Arcobello. |

The maximum number of contracts per team permitted is as follows:
Total NHL Roster contracts per team = 23 (not including IR)
Total NHL contracts per team = 50 (including NHL, AHL & ECHL), players in junior leagues who have not played 10 NHL games do not count towards this limit.
Total NHL players belonging to a team = 90 (including roster, minor, prospects or drafted)

Any player who is signed counts. Doesn't matter where they play. OHL, Sweden, my beer league, whatever. But that said, the 50 contract limit is not a concern. We are at 48 contracts which means we still have 2 spaces and there's nobody left to sign. Prust and whatever his face on the PTO are not making the team.
There will be players traded before the season starts. Either that or a couple of the vets/young players will be claimed off of waivers.(some will clear waivers..looking at you Michalek) If guys like Leivo or Corrado don't make the roster Lou will attempt to trade them for late picks instead of losing them to waivers.(see Joe Colborne for a 4th rounder) - Njuice
That's false. Have look at "slide rule" |

No, before... just recall that this year is the centennial year, but the Maple Leafs name didn't come into being until 1927. |

(frank)ing hate being wrong.
It only applies to 18 and 19 year olds. So anybody coming back for an overage year would still count. Connor Brown the year he won Most Oustanding Player in the OHL would've counted, but I think it's so rare that a player good enough to be signed comes back to the CHL as a 20 year old... |

I wonder if the Leafs play say the flyers and they take liberties with our young players if the next time they meet them they put Martin-Clune-Prust out there to send a message..
thats a strategy i can get behind. |
