Won't miss any of those that got the frozen boot, except Healy - thought he was ok - not perfect - but light years better than PJ Stock or Jaffe or Cox or Hirsch.

Kinda like what Vancouver did with horvat, virtanen and mcann?
- Tumbleweed
none of those guys were gift wrapped spots. slick willie didn't want any young players in the lineup, but he had no choice when Horvat won a spot and the following season Canucks didn't have enough depth to deny Virtanen and McCann who admittedly could have used time in Junior/ AHL but were good enough to make the team.
not sure why your team would need Prust unless it's to add team toughness, but that just means a younger player is going to have his spot taken... |

You still here? The only time Vancouver players got to carve their names into the cup was NEVER!
Here's one for the road
- winsix
Actually that's not true. Vancouver Millionaires won the cup, so yes, a team from Vancity did win the cup and the legacy of that team is with the current club in Vancity.
If I'm not mistaken, that cup win came well before any by a Toronto based team. You can correct that if I'm wrong. |

Can't stand it when power/phone lines get cut by idiots. - winsix
especially when the phone co. workers are supposed to bury them more than several inches below the dirt when its on your property, but instead they just put alongside your flower bed cuz they too lazy to put them in properly and they just dangling there after the fact... |

The team has been around for a century, as Burns said it would be impossible to retire every great player's number - winsix
Montreal seems to be able to retire numbers and frankly speaking they have a much greater legacy. That's not to disparage your team's history, but rather just pointing out that teams with legacy can and do retire numbers.
I'm sure you can admit that the Habs have a much greater legacy of winning, including more recently and have been able to retire great player's numbers... |

I wasn't trying to prove or disprove some other point, except you said player's were gift wrapped spots.
i said they weren't. they were actually won by the young players themselves. if the team had more depth and better players then that wouldn't have been the case.
no one handed the spot and said it's yours to lose. these guys beat out whoever the fringe NHL'r was that could have won that spot. |

exactly how people before the year started thought Corrado would win a spot, but he didn't and was beaten out by Hutton.
Corrado was eventually waived and is still a fringe player if that.
Corrado isn't worth it. Rather have the pitas and pints... |
