I think the NHL will try to address that at the next CBA negotiations, or at least they should. Teams dumping their stupid contracts like that is way too easy. |

But... it's good? It spreads some young talent around the league and is advantageous for teams who are trying to grow. |

I don't see a problem with it.
Teams should be able to dumb their stupid contracts to other teams if they're willing to take them.
This time, it cost Florida Crouse to get rid of Bolland.
Arizona is the only team adding all these contracts to reach to cap floor but you have to believe they'll stop at some point if they want to become competitive. |

Arizona are doing that because their "fanbase" have no idea what's going on, so they can have 20M$ in dead cap space and get away with it because nobody gives a (frank). |

And also because they have a real young team and it won't be an issue for a while yet. |

Except they're in danger of exceeding the salary cap this year if more than one player hits bonuses.
They have $2.3 mill in cap space with $6.8 million in potential bonuses to pay out. |

Arizona.
They're only paying $62 million in actual salary but their cap hits are a little over $70 million.
Plus they've now filled all 50 roster spots. |

Yeah, read that Ekblad can potentially earn 1.75M in bonus. With Bolland's 5.5M cap hit, would have put them over the cap. |

You do realize contracts like Pronger won't count against the cap since he's injured?
Edit: Or does it still count because of the 35+ rule? |

That I don't know. If he doesn't count, then they're at 65-66 million and will only exceed the cap if EVERY player hits all of their bonuses but they still have RFA Tobias Rieder to sign as well.
He had 37 points last year. |

i don't know how anything works now but when he was with the flyers they could just use the LTIR rule on day one of the regular season and his cap hit came off.
or something like that. |
