No it is hilarious that when i said that before you all flipped out and said he was a top five goalie in the nhl. Know when he is actually ranked 20th you guys dont care. Okay i see how it is.
- hanleyaj

So cause an SI article ranked him 20th he's actually the 20th best player? That isnt an opinion?

Do yourself a favor and look up stats. I am talking about actual stats, not someone's opinion. I don't know if people are just lazy, stupid, or both, but I love when people try to use some random article to prove a point that actual stats have already proven.

Another story.

I was heading through a 35, and speed up to 45 or so to hit a yellow light on a Y. I make it, bear right at the Y intersection. This leads me down a hill, and then up it again where it evens out to a 45. Down and up the hill is still a 35. All within 1000 feet.

I coast down to the valley of the hill. Foot isn't even on the gas. At this point I'm going 50, planned on coasting up the hill to level out to around ~45. Would have been perfect.

Cop at the valley of the hill. Hello $230.

Sure I was going too fast according to the speed limit. But was I REALLY "deserving" of a ticket. Come the (frank) on bro.

That's the bullpoop that needs to stop.

But see, by your theory, abolishing speed limits, doing 75 is a residential zone is legal, as long as you don't hit anyone (unless I misread). I'm not cool with people doing 45 on it.

I get what you're saying, but as you said, it's a subjective rule. Some people would argue that doing 80 in a 65 is being a douche. I once knew someone who said there should only be one law, and it would be, "Don't (frank) with other people," which is about as subjective as can be. Good idea, unenforceable.

- jmatchett383

Exactly. It's unenforceable. But hey it might not be a bad springboard

Sadly, it's the best we've got. But I do agree. My friend is the "perfect" driver. Never speeds at all, always changes lanes smoothly, basically the guy from a driver's ed video. He was in NY, and had the same thing happen because he didn't want to ride his brakes down a hill.

Edit: In this scenario, what speed is "too fast?" Is 60 too fast? If so, why is 59 allowed but 1 more MPH is not?

It's the same with drinking. If you're 20 years, 364 days, and 23 hours old, you aren't responsible enough to drink, but 1 hour later, you're mature and responsible enough.

So what stats tell you he is top five goalie. Please tell me. Because the way i read it is he was 23 in GA and 19th in SV%. Ohh maybe you talking about post season well lets see he has a career GA average of 3.37 and SV% of .895. So what stats are you talking about.

I'm still waiting for the first sober person in history to admit that they are not in complete control of their vehicle at all times.

The one I want changed is to treat a red light like a stop sign from 11 PM- 5 AM.

- jmatchett383

To the former, very yes. On that note, I'ma call out people phone calls while driving. Texting os obviously terrible, but so many people can't seem to drive without also taking a phone call. If it's that crucial a call, pull over.

To the latter, very very agreed.

COMPLETELY agree with this poop. As an engineer and frankly as a normal person it pains me to actually be less efficient by braking and fighting the momentum from driving down a hill. Stuff like that is just entrapment and isn't doing anything to "protect and serve"

Yeah, that's a local ticket. Cop sits at the bottom of that hill for a reason and that reason is collect as much money as he can in a given day to balance the local budget.

I had the same thing happen to me leaving Pottstown. I jumped onto an on ramp for Rte 100 except at the end of this ramp isn't a yield, it's a stop sign. So I slow down and take a look down the road behind me. There's nothing. It's a long stretch of straight road and there's not a car for a mile. Instead of coming to a complete stop, which I almost have at this point, I step on the gas and "merge" onto the empty road. 30 yds in front of me is a cop pulled back to the right. $135 for not coming to a "complete" stop. I asked him if he saw me stop and he said, "yes, but you didn't come to a complete stop."

And WTF!!! it's technically running a stop sign and three friggin' points.

It is called save percentage at even strength and since becoming a Flyer, Steve Mason has consistently been near the top of the league in the category. For a position that is notorious for player's stats that vary year over year (hello Fleury), Mason has stayed very consistent. Couple that with the joke of a defense that has been in front of him and I really don't think you can expect much more out of someone.

But enjoy your SI articles and your power rankings...I know actual hockey isn't that much fun to watch up in Buffalo. I take my 20th or whatever ranked goaltender any day of the week, thank you!

Talking about crazy poop people do in their car could last until the season starts. I see people changing clothes often on the Turnpike. Eating a burger and driving with their knees. Reading a newspaper, a full sheet like the Inqy.

The worst... women putting on their make up in the morning while driving.

The points impact for a minor traffic infraction is ridiculous. That's two years worth of points to sweat off.

I spend 40 minutes commuting through the Philly suburbs. It's a minor nightmare, a single left turning driver in front of you will consume an entire light cycle. You get the whole usual list of dumb poop: no turn signals, general lack of attention, all the classic tunes.

But thank the powers that be I don't have to do highway traffic twice a day. No way I could handle that.

Ridiculous.

Now, if you go through that at 20+, sure. Ticket.

But you clearly looked and it was safe. You might have "technically" ran it, but you weren't driving like an bumhole. Goes back to my theory. See what in saying?

I have a friend who is a Hatfield cop. He's generally lenient up to 15+ speeding. But some days, the township pays them overtime for the express reason of making them money. On those days, his tolerance stops at 5 MPH, and basically any moving violation is a ticket. He doesn't dole out tickets for trumped-up reasons, but he does not cut you slack, either.

So yes, their main role is to protect and serve, but their other role is to make the local municipality money by enforcing the rules of the road.
