I drove in the left lane with no traffic at 2 AM once just to see how it feels to be from Maryland.

It felt wrong.

flashing of the headlights gives me road rage.

It shouldn't because I don't know their situation, but for some reason it makes me want to drive slower.

- Streit2ThePoint

it is a common warning in a lot of european countries. They use cameras to fight against people holding up passing lanes too.

I rented a car to drive down the northwestern coast of Italy on my honeymoon and even though it was a horribly underpowered fiat 500, it was still the best drive of my life. The scenery and how well people drove were incredible

But like you said, there wasn't room to get over in the right.

Basically, if I want to do 70, and the right lane is doing 65, and there is suitable space for me to pull into the left lane without cutting anyone off, I'm gonna do it. As soon as I have made my pass, I will switch to the right lane.

I don't see what the problem with this is.

There wasn't room for me to safely pass two school buses on the right side. There was certainly room for them to get over to the right lane and let me and the line of cars behind them past

Let me rephrase, I'm in the left lane cruising and passing people and if someone is on my ass while doing this I find a spot to get in the right lane, let him pass, and then get back in the left when I'm ready to pass someone.

I do drive in the right lane when not passing.

- Streit2ThePoint

See, the whole "right lane when not passing" is not always true. If it was, a traffic jam would be confined to one lane, or at least everyone would be attempting to merge into the right lane. But I understand that it's generally good practice.

I believe the speeding ticket and speed limits should be abolished. I will explain.

Post curve signs, etc with speed recommendations on ramps and what have you. These are very helpful and especially for those unfamiliar with the area.

All speeding tickets should be "driving like an bumhole" tickets.

If it's 2 am and there's no one on the turnpike, why can i not go 80. I'm not endangering anyone, im in complete control of my vehicle.

Someone mentioned 202. Why can I not go 75 in the left most lane. I'm not endangering anyone. I'm in complete control of my vehicle.

Now, if I'm swerving in and out of lanes to give myself the opportunity to go 70 on 202 because there is too much traffic for me to cruise in the left lane, then I should get a ticket. Because I'm being a douche.

Secondly. If you do not pass a vehicle within 5 seconds, you should be pulled over and fined, with no points.

I'm just confused. There was room for school buses to fit into the right lane, but not for you to get into the right, pass them, and then get back into the left?

But again, as long as they're passing, I don't see anything wrong with what they did.

I'm still waiting for the first sober person in history to admit that they are not in complete control of their vehicle at all times.

The one I want changed is to treat a red light like a stop sign from 11 PM- 5 AM.

It would require stricter standards for vehicle inspections and maintenance for one, and they would have to be similar across state lines.

I kept my car registered in PA when I lived in Louisiana and I never had to get it inspected. Still safer than most of the cars that were on the road there, but it was a loophole nonetheless.

I do agree with you though...people would not have the stones to text or to pull some of the maneuvers they do if they were going 100

It's true though. I'm with the flow of traffic. What's the big deal.

Driving like an bumhole = driving outside of the flow of traffic. That's where accidents happen

If your within the flow of traffic, you should have no problems. Going 60 or 75

So i took some heat about saying flyers goalies a still a question mark. He was ranked 20th on most recent goalie rankings. So i would say that needs some improvement. I love it when experts agree with me. http://www.si.com/nhl/pho...l-top-30-starting-goalies

But see, you're the best driver in the world, for the sake of this argument. You can fly down the road at 100 MPH in a 40 zone with ease. But what about the guy next to you who isn't, and assumes you're not doing 100 MPH and changes lanes, and you going 100 instead of 60 leads to an accident? Maybe he thought you were going 40 like everyone else and assume he had ample time to change? You can be the best driver in the world, but not everyone else is.

They are holding up traffic by sitting in the left lane. I can try to paint you a picture. There are two buses driving one in front of the other. A school bus is roughly 45 feet long and there was about the length of a school bus between them. Let's just say 150 feet. They are moving slightly faster than traffic so by the time I pass a car in the right lane and move in front of the school busi, the front bus will have reached another car which would restart this process.

In this instance, it really does not matter what speed they are going, because they had room to get over. And if they really want to drive 68 mph they can get over and slow down while cars go by and then resume that speed once they are clear to do so. Choosing to do what they did was a Richard move that causes more problems than someone driving faster than the speed limit. They felt that doing what they wanted to do on the road was more important than what everyone else was trying to do.

Could I have passed them on the right? Probably. It certainly would have been a scenario like you described where I was speeding up and cutting someone off. Plus I would've been doing that to a school bus, which looked empty, but I really had no idea. So I did what I felt was the smartest thing, I sat behind them pissed off that an enjoyable drive ended up sucking, and tried to get the number and company of the buses so the situation could've been dealt with like humans.

Going 60 mph constitutes as out of the flow of traffic. That isn't safe.

Think about it this way. the people that cause you to say "alright douche" because you're going 80 and they pass you in the right lane going 100. Thats ridiculous. If you're not on a highway, and on a back road, 50-60 is often pushed, but not exceeded, generally. And if it is that's the type of person that'd cause you to say "alright douche"

And that person should get a ticket.

It's an ok idea but it's so...subjective. which isn't the best. It makes the drivers themselves responsible for their safety.

But see, by your theory, abolishing speed limits, doing 75 is a residential zone is legal, as long as you don't hit anyone (unless I misread). I'm not cool with people doing 45 on it.

I get what you're saying, but as you said, it's a subjective rule. Some people would argue that doing 80 in a 65 is being a douche. I once knew someone who said there should only be one law, and it would be, "Don't (frank) with other people," which is about as subjective as can be. Good idea, unenforceable.

No, I get it. I just don't think that would ruin my drive it, I'd just sit behind them and wait for them to get over so that I could pass them, or for me/them to get onto a different road. I don't feel required to exceed the speed limit at all times. But I do agree it was a Richard move.
