So revised line up:
Notes:
1. Marner needs a finisher and when I try to compare playing styles to his last season London line mates, I really think this should work.
2. Babcock said Matthews, Nylander.
3. Need to play out some contracts on some vets but waiting to come up in case of injury or trades are, and in this order: Sosh, Leivo, Hyman.
4. I think we have to roll four lines that lean towards scoring, not so much grinding since we don't have those types of players. So I believe ice time will be closer than normal for all four lines. Depending on who we are playing and who is on their game any given night this could work out really well.
JVR, Bozak, Marner
Komarov, Kadri, Brown
Martin, Matthews, Nylander
Michalek, Laich, Lupul
After TDD,
JVR, Kadri, Marner
Komarov, Matthews, Sosh
Martin, Nylander, Brown
Leivo, Laich, Hyman

Brown and marner better . Why these guys and not those two? - burn
I think they are Babcock type players. I think they get first dibs to lose a job. They are tweeners as in older rookies and I think they'll want to see exactly what they have in them. |

They are all ready. They were all ready last year except for Marner. But I think it's obvious he is ready.
And about what you said about Babcock not wanting to have 6 rookies at once. Well in 2013-14 he deployed Tatar Nyquist Jurco Dekyser Glendenning and many many more all at once. - Santo_44
While I understand you point, Tatat had 4 years in the AHL, Nyqvist had 3 (I think) and Jurco and Glendenning had 2 (again I believe, too lazy to look it up).
Hey I'd love to see all the kids in and the likes of Michalek and Greening, Laich kicked out. I just do not see this management group doing that |

Brown and Marner as well. They are both better, work hard, more skilled 200ft players.
I think if it comes down to those guys and brown, then brown makes it. There'd have to be something major for him not to make it, like brown totally flopping or getting injured. |

Also different situation in old Detroit era with Babcock.....they weren't rebuilding. Hard to compare the two.
Edit: in 02-03 in Anaheim he had 7 rookies play more than 25games. 03-04 he had 4. |

You think Marner goes back to the O? It won't help him. That's like sending Vesey back to the NCAA and have him dominate, yet again, only as a 24 year old.
Seriously though, what other options are there for Marner? He's not going to learn a single thing in the O that he doesn't already kn-O. He'd learn more with just practising with the Leafs and watching half the games in the press box. - weirdoh
my guess is they give him his 9 games and decide from there
i dont disagree with anything you are saying but the mantra of the new management is team before player
so if he gets outplayed in camp he goes back down. he's got a great chance to make the team but its not guaranteed |

my guess is the lineup will look something like this barring trades
JVR Kadri Komarov
Michalek Bozak Marner/Brown
Lupul Matthews Nylander
Greening Laich Martin
13th/14th: Brown/Marner - Holland
Rielly Marincin
Gardiner Zaitsev
Polak Hunwick
7th: Corrado

Plus I think Marner is a higher priority prospect so they would probably rather do what's best for him over a guy like Hyman you would think not well Marner is ready but so is Hyman and he's older so maybe we should keep Hyman up.. |
