And if the plan is Ullmark then that worries me
He looked pretty good for us, but was very up & down in Rochester

And if it gets to the point where we have to trade for Fleury, Elliot, etc...
It might be too late at that point
How many points get flushed down the drain until we decide a move has to be made?

Did Gerbe take over your account? You're worrying about the sky falling before anything has ever happened. I don't know if it's pot or sex or food but, man, you gotta relax. This is like freaking out about EJ Manuel being the backup QB. Can't worry about that. Talk about that big hole in the top 6 but backup goalie is a little bit much

So you mean 1 extra season? With Edmonton? The team that let up the 5th most amount of goals? Sorry, I don't think the world is falling because he went 10-12-2 in Edmonton.

You prove my point even further when Johnson, who looked great in defensively minded Boston, had the same numbers in less defensive NY. Goaltenders are a product of their system unless they are great ones like Lundqvist, Price, Holtby. If the defense is good the goaltending will look better.

And I never said he's good because he's a backup, all he has to do is not be terrible.

- Zschalberg

All he's done is shown he's terrible though!
And there are goalies that put up decent stats, even on bad teams

You bring a guy in who has had ZERO success to back up a guy who has never played more than 40 games in a season

How does that make sense?

Agreed. Like him as a prospect. Don't get why he fetched two 2nds and McNabb for him when he was drafted in the 4th a year before.

And before anyone asks, Yes I hate Tim Murray, and when the wall is built, he should be on the other side of it.

- sbroads24

If he turns into a 2nd liner I'm happy. That's a sunk cost so now looking forward all I can do is hope he turns out. But yeah, it was a bit much. Deslauries came back in that deal, too, right?

Hudler, Pirri, someone's else, or stand pat?
- jdfitz77

One of Hudler or Pirri and a play for Fowler or even bigger (Shattenkirk)

We have different definitions of terrible I guess. He's not an all-star but you have him pegged to go 2-8-2 and are basing that on his 19-22-4 career. Idk, those numbers don't look like 2-8-2 to me. He's shown that he's mediocre. Mediocre is a long way from terrible and mediocre is all you need to be as a backup.

Well idk about that, he's a good 4th line player. That's all he is but he's fine at that role. Not saying it tips that trade in our favor, just wasn't sure if we got him from LA or Minnesota.

I might be biased against Fasching bc I was a McNabb fan & hated that trade
But I really just don't see him being a top6 guy for us
Hope I'm wrong though

And if he's just a bottom 6 guy,
Then I'd rather have a guy that can skate better like Baptiste or Carrier or Rodrigues, etc that can fly around the ice & put pressure on the other team

Maybe I'm just optimistic but I'm good with this team. A bit of a hole in the top 6 but I'm hoping it gets plugged with an Ennis or Bailey sized player. Other than that I'm ready for September.

I would like Hudler and play him with Eichel and Reinhart.

I have read Vancouver and Anaheim are interested, no link to Buffalo for either Hudler or Pirri thus far.

honestly

kane, ror, okposo
ennis, eichel, reinhart

that's a decent top 6 if ennis reverts back to old ways and kane puts the puck in the f@cking net

moulson, girgens, bailey
foligno, larsson, gionta
deslaurers

if bailey is ready, thats a decent bottom half of the roster

or sign a vet for 4th line, david jones, and bump gionta up a line and keep bailey in rochester

Let's just say I agree with you (which I don't), and I think he can go something like 6-6-2 as a backup...
What if Lehner plays poor or can't start 65 games?
We miss the playoffs with that production
And there's nothing to say he can be better

Your answer of Ullmark isn't all that comforting to me either
He was shaky in Rochester for a lot of the season

Backup goalie,
Especially when your starter is iffy,
Is VERY important

Trading for a guy with a barely above .900 save % does not make me feel like Murray put too much thought into it
And even though he's been close to .500 for a record,
With that save % he's lucky it's not much worse

Save% is a much more accurate way to judge his play IMO then his record

I think Murray makes two moves before camp. A winger and a depth dman. I don't think he's done. Girgs is the wild card. Does he sign him or trade him?

Seems like he doesn't have much trade value right now
He only had like 7 goals last year I think
1st rounder or not,
Can't imagine teams will give us much for that production

I don't get why everyone freaks out about this supposed "hole" in the top 6. Kane, ROR, and Okposo comprise of the first line and will be hell to play against. I'm sure Ennis, Moulson, Foligno, Nylander (outside chance but you never know) can fit in well and produce. Like Crosby put up 100+ point seasons playing with Pascal Dupuis. If Eichel is the generational talent he is projected to be having Reinhart/Okposo on the RW should be more then enough for that line to produce no matter who is playing LW. Yes obviously in a perfect world it would be nice to have another quality LW but Chicago won cups with Shaw in their top 6. If worse comes to worse put Kane on Eichel's like and have someone ride shotgun with ROR and Okposo. McGinn ain't no superstar and O'Reilly put up 60 in 71. We have lots off offensive firepower.

I'd be happy w Hudler or Pirri
I'm still surprised Pirri isn't signed
Young, 20 goal potential....
Does he have a bad attitude or something that I haven't heard about?

They should be our 2nd line truthfully. Reinhart/Eichel should be getting the top line minutes
