Looks like he's heading to Vancouver, at least that's what I just heard. Never know until the deal is signed though - John Jaeckel
Well shiiiiiii
I hope your source is wrong, as a Canucks fan.
He will boost out offence just enough to take us out of a top 10 draft pick, into the 11-15 range.
And he'll do it for top dollar after using the Hawks as leverage.
Thanks Benning. |

Chalk this up as another lackluster moment for Bowman. Not only did we over invest time in the Vesey sweeps and got embarrassed, we also will lose Hudler to a Canucks team no where near contending. Can't wait for this youth movement to lead us to another first round exit. |

As far as Canucks signing players:
"Talks with Forwards Hudler, Shipachyov Continue "
was a headline a month ago.
So either Benning have the slowest negotiations style in the league, or Hudler is doing hos best Jimmy Vesey imitation... |

Was at a Canuck game last year. Hudler would be a nice add. Very solid at both ends. Good awareness. Fit in nice as a 3rd line C winger. Gas left in the tank. |

Hayes is starting his 2nd contract this season. - jv526
right! it would be his third contract that starts after this season and next, the same time Vesey would be up for his second. |

any chance Shipachyov signs with the Hawks? Maybe he could play 2C and put Anisimov on 1LW with 19 and 81. Or maybe he plays 3C and bumps Kruger down to 4C. just spitballing. |

I don't see any way possible the hawks can keep Panarin if he has another good year and hits his bonuses again. His contract has 2.5 mil worth of bonuses. So 2.5 carries to this year and if he hits again, 2.5 mil to the following year. Assuming he puts up ~80 pts, he's looking at a minimum of 7 per year. Add the additional one year of bonuses at 2.5 and he costs 9.5 for one season and then 7 going forward. 30.5 mil for a season between Toews/Kane/Panarin would be tough to pull off. Add Crow, Hoss, Seabs, and Keith and you're 53+ for 7 players - that makes filling out a roster near impossible. The Hawks are like the Penguins after the 09 season, they're going to have to wait for Toews/Kane's contracts to become reasonable, instead of the two highest in the league. Hopefully some of the young guys can come in and fill in and help them win. The worst thing they can do is trade future assets for trade deadline players when their window is still open for years to come. - mw630
Whether we like it ot not, Panarin's gotta go, in exchange for some depth. Not just because he's going to take too much cap space, but who is else is tradeable whose cap hit would make a difference? It's Panarin or Crawford(or both), and offence will probably bring more in trade than goaltending. It's either Panarin/Crawford, or else Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith, or Seabrook, and that's not going to happen. So Panarin it is. |

I tend to maybe agree with you but I think Q will have. AA. LLOT to say between now and camp. A buddy of mine ran into coach earlier this month in Hinsdale and asked about the prospect of having these so called Schmaltz and Motte and the rest all on the roster and possibly playing with Toews along with St. Panik on that 1st line, the look from Q was like someone farted in church, so that tells me, he will have plenty to say . Hope we are wrong ! |

Any of them here yet or is their window about 4more prospect camps and 4years at Rockford! |

I fully expect, when the day comes that the Hawks AND Hossa feel its time to cut lose due to his diminishing skills, that the Hawks will (rightly) raise a humongous stink regarding the ridiculous ex post facto ruling on his contract.
BTW, the only untoucheable on your list for me is 2, due to his awesome contract. If Panarin has another killer year and signs for 7 or less, then all other options are on the table for me. |

Hudler is 32. Who will he play with in Vancouver?
Maybe he signs a 1 year 1 mill deal and lights it up next to 19/81 and gets one more big contract. |

Center depth is more important.
We already have Kane, Panarin, and Hossa as wingers in our top 6. If we add AA, what does the C depth look like after Toews?

The Hawks are at least 1 and probably 2 quality forwards short of having a Cup contending roster. But they are VERY close all things considered. And its not impossible for them to find those forwards sometime before the playoffs begin, whether they hit the jackpot with a couple prospects(mainly Schmaltz I'm hoping) or add someone at the TDL or maybe even surprise us before the season starts. Gotta rely on the elite core, defense, and goaltending. Stay healthy. Get lucky here or there. Stay in the playoff picture throughout the season, figure out the forward depth, put it all together as the playoffs approach and then go on a roll. |

I was at the game where Pirri scored his first NHL goal and I loved his offense a lot when he was with the Hawks, but hasn't that ship completely sailed? Q / Hawks didn't like him. What's changed since they traded him? IMO, last thing we need is another player taking up a roster slot and cap space while sitting in the press box.
EDIT: Not to mention how exactly does BP feel about the Hawks after they traded his behind? Wonder how well Campbell knows BP and JH? Where would you slot a BP? Not disagreeing, just puzzled. |

As of now, the d-corps and goaltending are in good shape. However, the forward lines have only 6 spots spoken for:
??-19-81
72-15-88
??-16-??
??-??-??
I'm pretty sure one of those spots will be filled by Dejardins, but we'not sure where. Panik will probably get a lot of playing time, but will it be at 1LW or 4RW or maybe just about every open spot. I'm sure Tootoo and Mashinter will get some games to sate Q's neanderthal gene (or is it Toews' neanderthal gene?) but hopefully it's one or the other rather than both in the same game. Then there's all the "kids", both the one's already having had a few games in the NHL (Hinostroza, Hartman, Kero, to name a few) and the newbies (Schmaltz, Motte, McNeill, Lundberg).
Sheesh! There's a lot of work remaining to be done. - EbonyRaptor
Assuming nothing else changes, you can pretty much pencil in Desjardins, Panik, Rasmussen, Tootoo and Schmaltz. After that, there will be competition. |

Exactly how do you know how much time they spent on it? Even if they did, what else was going on? Hell look at the board for the last month..............................
So you think the other teams that didn't get him were embarrassed? I don't see a lot of posts of how embarrassed the Devils are, or the Pens, hey what about Nash and Buffalo, now there's embarrassed.
Don't see anything wrong with taking flyer on a guy they could get for cheap who might be an excellent player.
and Hudler is just a guy. Probably using the Hawks and a few other teams as leverage to get the most money he can. I get that they need more top line wingers, Hudler would help, but lets not make him into a savior either. |

Not that I think Hudler will be a Hawk but with Toews' and especially Hossa's lack of production last year I found the following link's graph on Hudler's ability to make his linemates better very interesting. Scroll down for the graph showing his linemates shooting percentage with and without him: http://www.todaysslapshot...till-worthy-top-six-role/
