In MLB, if drafted out of high school, can opt not to sign and enter draft again. If in minors for period of time, player becomes a free agent after certain number of years.

Thanks for the clarification, I wasn't sure how it worked. Vesey will make the Rangers a better team. Which in turn makes the division even better than last year. May be the best division in hockey now.

It's basically like finding a wallet with no ID in it - sometimes there's cash, sometimes there isn't. I personally think that he's been hyped beyond his (likely) abilities, but would also have been happy enough if he'd have signed with the Leafs so that we got to get the potential maximum reward for minimal risk...
